It must be one of these things >1. Faulty disks.2. Faulty dvd drive.3. Faulty iso creation. 4. Faulty configuration.I will do some more testing on 1 and 2 to see if I can rule them out. « Last Edit: November 06, 2014, 03:55:37 AM by timeth » Logged PCLinuxOS 2015 KDE4 (64 bit)Kernel 4.7.3-pclos1Lenovo X1 Carbon (3444-2CE)Intel Dual Core i5-3427U @ 1.80GHzDDR3 8GB RAMSanDisk SD5SG225 256GB SSDIntel 3rd Gen Core processor graphicsExt. (my removable Asus DVD-RW doesn't), if your k3b allow a choice, try to select something different from DAO mode; my k3b doesn't even show DAO mode, probably because it recognize it is not a supported mode.Else, try a different DVD brand or a different DVD-RW drive unit... or forget about DVDs and switch to USB sticks. We still do not know what kernel-version you are using. I just burned the iso I downloaded to a CD with the same DVD

Apparently, this is a wide-spread problem and there are a lot of posts on the internet that deal with it, but none of the advice I've https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/401726-Unable-to-burn-CD-RW-in-K3b found has worked so far. Any ideas? I've tried the following: (1) Updated K3b to the most recent version. (2) Checked the device name of my CD burner (= sr0), and made sure I have access to it (sr0 is assigned to the group "drive", and I've added myself to this group, and also to "cdrom", just to be sure). (3) Checked whether I have access to the applications /usr/bin/cdrecord, /usr/bin/wodim, and /usr/bin/cdrdao. Set the permissions to 775 (rwxrwxrx) and the ownership/group ownership to root/disk. Also affects errno 5 input/output distribution/package Nominate for series Bug Description The error is produced when I put in a blank DVD-RW in my IDE DVD burner, drag files to the burn:/// window and click "Write to Disc" After the image is created I get a dialoge saying: "Error writing to CD -- There was an error writing to the CD: Unhandled error, aborting" The error details are: /dev/hdc: "Current Write Speed" is 2.0x1385KBps. :-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=5h/ASC=64h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error :-( attempt to re-run with -dvd-compat -dvd-compat to engage DAO or apply full blanking procedure :-( write failed: Input/output error The error is only produced when I try burning DVD-RW. DVD-R and CD-RW burning is working well. I haven't tried DVD+RW, however my burner does support both formats. The error does not depend on whether the DVD has been writen to before or not. I've also tried burning a DVD-RW using graveman which also doesn't work.
