and BACKUPS of data files/dirs if you need to. This is a full re-install) My solution was to get rid of all the profile application data. So ensure that you - uninstall the instance (including server) using instance configuration wizard, (in C:\Program Files\MySQL\My SQL Server 5.1\bin\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe), choosing remove. - now remove MySQL via Control Panel->add/remove programs, may need to F5 refresh list if not there. how to fix cannot create windows service for mysql error 0 - make sure MySQL dir in C:\Program Files is now deleted in its entirety. There may be old Data files lying around. - *most importantly*, make sure that any MySQL dir in the following dirs are deleted. Please send us content of MySQL server error log. Also, please, check Windows for application errors. [2 Mar 2009 14:51] Ana Dom I didn't see any message about I need to restart server during installation. MySql couldn't create data directory so that it didn't create error log. The reported for mysql in the event view were: - Plugin InnoDB init function retun error - Plugin InnoDB registration as a storage engine failed [2 Mar 2009 15:22] Miguel Solorzano Thank you for the feedback. Two things which worked for me. 1. Knowing how to change root password in MySQL, and taking backup of databases. 2. Install MYSQL as service. C:\> "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld" --install I had done clean installation of MYSQL 5.6 few days ago. On first day everythng was fine. I could mysql error 0 access city and world tables. On next day I started getting below errors. Some were I read to run mysqld at admin level. And it solved problem, but I couldn't access city and world table anymore. On third day. I am getting only this errors. Note: MYSQL service running previously fine, when firewall, antivirus (avast) and apache was running. When run on admin mode : C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: *********** ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: * ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database 'localhost' When run on user mode (who is admin also) : C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: *********** ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: * ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin>mysql -u root -p localhost Enter password: ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database 'localhost' Not able to
