If out of warranty, Apple has an out of warranty replacement program, cost in the US is $199, or you can Google a third-party repair facility in your area. Hi, Fantastic site. I am trying to fix an iphone 3, that was given to me https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2807177?tstart=0 not working. It only shows the apple sign when i plugged into the computer. It changes logo in dfu mode, itunes recognizes that it needs restoring , but during the installation i get error 1611. Apple support site suggests that this might be a hardware problem, but no further clues there. I have read some people have had this error as a software problem, but no luck so far. Tried on different computers using a new usb https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/53209/iPhone3+will+not+restore,+error+1611 connector........Id love some help. Thanks Alistair Answered! But another cause of Error 1611 is your computer Hosts file blocking Apple from signing your firmware. This is a good thing if you are Jailbreaking and Unlocking your iPhone. Anyway you can check if this is the problem very easy. Search on your computer for Hosts. Open the Hosts file and see if any lines have gs.apple.com If so, this is the problem most likely, and not the battery hopefully. Was this answer helpful?
