You can try and restore again using the information in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. If that doesn't work, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to get the hardware checked. If it isnt the cable, try to use another computer or mac and make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Hope this works out for you if you still have the problem! Published on Feb 26, 2013So recently i found myself struggling with an iphone 4 that just would iphone 5s error not restore in itunes. No matter how many tries or how much googling i did, i found nothing. However i did end up finding a solution and figured i'd make a tutorial :)STEP 1: you're gonna want to go to http://ih8sn0w.com/ and download the newest version of sn0wbreeze. (note it is a windows only program)STEP 2: Open sn0wbreeze and create a custom ipsw for your device and the newest version of IOS.This will prevent updating the basband. Error -1 is a result of a corrupt basband chip. However the phone does work just fine.STEP 3: Run iReb in Sn0wbreeze to get your phone into pwned dfu mode. This will allow the phone to restore to the ipsw you created.STEP 4: Open itunes and hold shift, then press restore and select the ipsw you created.STEP 5: Your phone will look like this when restoring. Just sit back and relax now. You have successfully fixed error -1! :D Category Education License Standard YouTube License Show more Show less Loading... Autoplay When auto
you happen to have an iPhone, you will, every once in a while, find yourself needing to restore your device via iTunes to fix software related issues. Doing a full restore on your iPhone sometimes brings about unpredictable results that at times are challenging to fix. In fact, you will encounter different error messages that need a lot of figuring out for a fix. Among these error messages, the “This iPhone could not be restored due to an unknown error (-1)” error is probably one of the hardest to fix because this error is said to be caused by hardware issues on your iPhone. Specifically, this error is somewhat related to a corrupted baseband chip and it usually comes up towards the end of the restore process when iTunes is updating the baseband of your iPhone. We have listed several steps below on how to fix this error but you have to check first if the error on your iPhone is caused by a hardware issue. To check, simply look for the IMEI of your iPhone. Do this by opening the Phone app. Tap the Keypad and enter *#06#. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > General > About and look for the IMEI. If the IMEI is present on your phone, it means that your iPhone is safe and it has no baseband or hardware issues. If the IMEI field is blank, your iPhone has hardware issues and you are better off bringing it to an Apple Store for repair. PRO TIP: If the issue is with your computer or a laptop/notebook you should try using the Reimage Plus Software which can scan the repositories and replace corrupt and missing files. This works in most cases, where the issue is originated due to a system corruption. You can download Reimage Plus by Clicking Here Step 1: Ensure that the security software and settings of your computer are not blocking the Apple update server from communicating with your device. Use an administrative user account when logging in to your computer, not a guest account. Ensure that the date, time, and time zone settings of your computer are correct. Update iTunes to its latest version. Update your computer’s operating system. Update your security software. Step 2: Restore your iPhone two more time. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. Choose your iPhone when it appears on iTunes. Go to the Summary tab and click Restore. Click Restore again. Doing this will delete all data and co
