Ok, i am new to linux. I am trying to install cyrus imap server. I did the ./configure just like the doc's said to. Then i did the make depend. Now, i dont understand anything that it said, but there was an error at the end of the http://forums.devshed.com/linux-help-33/depend-error-127-a-36195.html command. This is what it said: ### Making depend in /tmp/cyrus imap/cyrus-imapd-2.1.4/sieve make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/cyrus imap/cyrus-imapd-2.1.4/sieve' /tmp/cyrus imap/cyrus-imapd-2.1.4/tools/not-mkdep -I. -I.. -I. -I./../lib -I./../et -I/usr/local/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -Wall -g -O2 *.c *.y ./*.y ./*.c 1>makedepend.log 2>&1 make[1]: *** [depend] Error 127 make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/cyrus imap/cyrus-imapd-2.1.4/sieve' make: *** [depend] Error 1 What is error 127 and error 1? Should i go on and do the make all and make install? Thanks for any advice you could give. -Mr.K Faq Reply With Quote May 21st, 2002,12:29 PM #2 No Profile Picture M.Hirsch View Profile View Forum Posts Contributing User Devshed God 1st Plane (5500 - 5999 posts) Join Date Oct 2000 Location Back in the real world. Linux How to Fix a Linux Depend Error 127 How to Fix a Linux Depend Error 127 By G.S. Jackson eHow Contributor G.S. Jackson Follow î‚• Pin http://www.ehow.com/how_12171955_fix-linux-depend-error-127.html Share Tweet Share Email Save When compiling Linux programs, programmers often do so from the command line. You can accomplish this by running the "configure" command, followed https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142878 by the "make" command. However, if you try to run the "Make" command without first consulting the output of the "configure" command, you may have missed important packages that your program error 1 requires. This will give the "127" error, signaling that these dependencies have not been met. By consulting the output of the configure command, you can determine what packages are require to compile and install the program. Navigate to the source directory of the program in the command terminal. Open the command terminal by clicking on the system menu, then "System Tools," then make error 127 clicking "Terminal." Run the following command in the terminal: $> ./configure Read the output of the configure command. This output will describe for you what dependencies are missing. Dependencies are programs or code required by the program in order to run. The end of the output should list dependencies required by the current program. Install those programs. The configure output will list the files and the versions require, so a Google search should lead you to the correct packages.
