Error 1005 Dsrestor
Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more... I can’t seem to find any reasons or clues to why this is happening and even the event logs seem odd. The way we even knew we had a problem was because the owners Blackberry needs to be revalidated at night. The only system event I get is 6008 EVENTLOG that says the previous shutdown @ XX:XX was unexpected. Although not consistent it seems to start around 11:00 PM http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-1005-source-dsrestor-eventno-4658-phase-1.htm and end by 5:30 AM and appears to reoccur every 10-13 minutes. He is a break down for a couple of days. Wed. night 7/14 first event @11:05 PM with a previous shutdown @10:52PM and reoccur up about every 13 minutes until the last one @ 4:02 am on the 15th. Each one of these points to the last shutdown time as 10:52 PM which seemed odd to keep telling me the same info every 13 min. But there were https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c2e0962c-7456-419e-8885-ee12aaeeaaba/6008-eventlog-error-every-15-minutes?forum=smallbusinessserver still 6 more events after this every 13 min. until the last one 5:21 am but each of these 6 report the last shutdown as a different time for each one.( see 1 Summary below) This is what I would expect to see and would indicate to me that the server was in a constant reboot. 1 Summary 26 events that start @ 11:05 PM and end @ 4:02 AM all pointing to the previous shutdown @ 10:52 PM on 7/14 6 additional events that all point to different shutdown time, they are Event time Previous shut down time 4:15 4:03 4:28 4:16 4:41 4:29 4:54 4:42 5:08 4:55 5:21 5:09 Then everything is fine till 11:59 PM that night 7/15 until 4:31 am the following morning with each event indicating the last shutdown was Approx. 13 minute ago, so the first shutdown listed was 11:45pm and the last was 4:19 AM. Then over the weekend it started @3:13 AM on sun Morning 7/18 with the previous shutdown @2:58 and the event time and shutdown time progress approx. 13 minutes each time until 7/19 @ 6:10 AM indicating the previous shutdown @ 5:58 AM Here is a sample of the event times and the referenced shutdown time for each event 11:56 event w/shutdown @11:44 11:43 11:30 1129 11:17 11:16 11:03 11:02 10:49 10:48 10:36 10:35 10:22 10:21 10:08 10:07 9:56 9:54 9:42 9:41 9:28 9:27 9:15 9:14 9
to fix it. I looked on the net but only see others with the sameproblem and no real solution. connect to the SAM in order to sych the domain admin and DSRM passwords. I found a KB article on how to manually change the DSRM password to the same as the domain admin password however this appears to be a workaround. Should the DSRestore Filter be able to connect to the SAM server and if so why might it not be able to in this case. I would rather fix it than workaround it. We are running SBS 2003.
