I'm not using a software firewall except for the one built into Windows 7, and I don't see any entries for Outlook there. This problem started sometime within the past 6 months. Everything was working fine before that. Any ideas? I didn't change any settings, so I'm wondering if gmail or Thunderbird changed (did it update itself?). I have my settings in Thunderbird set to smtp.gmail.com port 587 STARTTLS Authn: Normal password User Name: billhines4@gmail.com Thanks in advance for any help. Chosen solution Server settings look good. Is there a personal firewall or a proxy which might prevent Thunderbird from connecting to the server? Note, when logging in using OAuth2 the first time you're prompted for your Gmail password in a browser like window. This is your real Gmail password, not any application specific password. After that you're prompted to allow Thunderbird to access Gmail. Read this answer in context 0 Question tools Get email updates when anybody replies. when a solution is found.
