Every time I have seen this error, it has been caused by a failing hard disk. Run disk checks and you may want to consider replacing the disk for extra safety. (Is Retrospect trying to erase the tape, trying to seek on the tape, trying to write, or trying to read?) Have you followed the troubleshooting techniques in: Article #5409 at http://kb.dantz.com/ ? Give us some more details -- 102 is a very error 102 generic error that Retrospect lost its connection with the tape drive. Could be a bad tape drive, a bad tape, a bad SCSI card, a hardware problem, etc...
