Stop MySql from running{control panel | Administrative Tools | Services} Make sure to uninstall the previous MySql from control panel remove all mysql directories and names from window explorer even those are hidden, In th case that there are some applications which are using mysql and are always on run and you can not remove the mysql dependencies from, you rename them. For example you have Ruby1.9, go head just rename it to RubyBack1.9 and rename them back once you finish with mysql installation. Or other alternative is you kill the process once you reach to step 9 go to firewall from control panel, click on advanced setting in the left panel. Now, click on inbound rules. Add two mysql's under name one with Domain Profile the other with Private Profile. click

I'm sorry for that but I can't https://lkubaski.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/solving-the-mysql-the-security-settings-could-not-be-applied-error/ solve my problems with help from similar toppics. I would like to install a MySQL server 5.5 on a server. I have the problem that in the 4th step (apply security settings) it always fails. I tried to solve this problem on my computer (so locally). No matter what I try (resetting the password command line, creating user error 1045 in mysql admin...), I fail. I succeeded installing MySQL server 5.1, but then I can't get connection with my (java) application. I use windows XP, no firewall, anti-virus or other security is installed. Also for reinstallation I removed the software and the mysql folder. Can anyone advise a good working version of MySQL version? Or what procedures can I follow to make it work (locally and on a server)? thanks for any help here error no 1045 under you can find the error: Problem installation mysql server 5.5 à problem in step: Apply security settings The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with th following error. Error Nr. 1045 Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password:No) If a personal firewall is running on your machine, please make sure you have opened the TCP port 3306 for connection. Otherwise no client application can connect to the server. After you have opened the port please press (Retry) to apply the security settings. If you are reinstalling after just installed the MySQL please note the data directory was not removed automatically. Therefor the old password from your last installation is still needed to connect to the server. In this case please select skip now and rerun the configuration window from the start menu. not be applied"error June 5, 2012 1 Comment Yesterday I got this error message during the last step of the MySQL Windows installer: "The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error". The issue can be solved issue this procedure from the MySQL website. First, cancel the wizard and make sure that the MySQL service is stopped. Then, create a text file using a SQL query that will reset the root password. UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('admin') WHERE User='root'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; Then, launch mySQL using the following command line: mysqld --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\my.ini" --init-file="C:\mysql-init.txt" --console Note: it's better to use the "-console" option so that error messages are correctly displayed. Finally, open a new DOS shell and execute the following command line to shutdown mySQL: mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown You can now restart the mySQL installer and choose the "Repair" option: Laurent KUBASKI Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
