the correct password. I was having problems directing a localhost and I tried fixing things in myphpadmin. I deleted my root directory/privileges in phpmyadmin and then things took a turn for the bad. mySQL could no longer run and I have no idea how to fix it. I've tried reinstalling phpmyadmin and everything related to mySQL and still do not have any luck getting it to run. I know mySQL is running because when I type in: ps -ef | grep mysql I get mysql 1149 1 0 20:23 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/mysqld jeremy 2314 2283 0 20:34 pts/0 00:00:00 grep mysql When I type in: "mysql -u root -p" and enter the password I get reset I get the message: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I've tried using an init file and loading it from there, resetting passwords and using dkpg to reset things but still have no luck. If I type the command: mysqld --skip-grant-tables I get 110831 20:57:24 [Warning] Can't create test file /var/lib/mysql/jeremy-laptop.lower-test 110831 20:57:24 [Warning] Can't create test file /var/lib/mysql/jeremy-laptop.lower-test 110831 20:57:24 [Warning] One can only use the --user switch if running as root Does anyone ever had this happen to them or know how to fix it? I logged into MySQL as root: david@server1:~$ mysql -u root -p123 I created a new user called repl. I left host blank, so the new user can may have access from any location. mysql> CREATE USER 'repl' IDENTIFIED BY '123'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) I checked the user table to verify the new user repl was properly created. mysql> select host, user, password from mysql.user; +-----------+------------------+-------------------------------------------+ | host | user | password | +-----------+------------------+-------------------------------------------+ | localhost | root | *23AE809DDACAF96AF0FD78ED04B6A265E05AA257 | | server1 | root | *23AE809DDACAF96AF0FD78ED04B6A265E05AA257 | | 127.0.0.1 | root | *23AE809DDACAF96AF0FD78ED04B6A265E05AA257 | | ::1 | root | *23AE809DDACAF96AF0FD78ED04B6A265E05AA257 | | localhost | | | | server1 | | | | localhost | debian-sys-maint | *27F00A6BAAE5070BCEF92DF91805028725C30188 | | % | repl | *23AE809DDACAF96AF0FD78ED04B6A265E05AA257 | +-----------+------------------+-------------------------------------------+ 8 rows in set (0.00 sec) I then exit, try to login as user repl, but access is denied. david@server1:~$ mysql -u repl -p123 ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'repl'@'localhost' (using password: YES) da
Us MySQL ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root' - Solution Contents[Hide]Symptom:Solution: 1.Symptom: Unable to access MySQL database remotely using root account. Any attempt to access MySQL database https://linuxconfig.org/mysql-error-1045-28000-access-denied-for-user-root-solution will result in error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'ip-address' (using password: YES) 2.Solution: The above MySQL error message is a default behavior of the MySQL server to disallow a Root user to connect remotely as by default the Root user is allowed to connect to MySQL server on from localhost that is 127.0.0.1. The solution is to create error 1045 a new admin user. The below SQL commands will create new user called admin and grant remote access: mysql> CREATE USER 'admin'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY ''; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'admin'@'%' WITH GRANT OPTION; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) Alternative but not recommended solution is to grant remote MySQL access to access denied for root user: mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) The above line will grant a privilege to the root user to connect remotely: $ mysql -u root -ppassword -h 172.17.0.14 Welcome to the MariaDB monitor.
