Here is what I'm doing. I'm connected to my Amazon EC2 instance. I can login with MySQL root error sqlstate hy000 1045 with this command: mysql -u root -p Then I created a new user bill with host % CREATE USER 'bill'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'passpass'; Granted all the privileges to user bill: grant all privileges on *.* to 'bill'@'%' with grant option; Then I exit from root user and try to login with bill: mysql -u bill -p entered the correct password and got this error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'bill'@'localhost' (using password: YES) mysql access-denied share|improve this question edited Sep 6 at 17:44 Jaap 1,2101431 asked Apr 24 '12 at 13:42 Ali 1,86581738 14 Did you FLUSH PRIVILEGES? –eggyal Apr 24 '12 at 14:10 1 Nope. Sqlstate[hy000] [1045] Access Denied For User 'root'@'localhost' (using Password: Yes) Magento
only takes a minute: Sign up How do I fix this error: [1045] SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] up vote 0 down vote favorite I am working on a server that is not my localhost for the first time. I am renting hosting http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10299148/mysql-error-1045-28000-access-denied-for-user-billlocalhost-using-passw space from hostgator. I created a form that is supposed to take the user's information and put it in the database. I keep on recieving the following error message when I try to submit the form: Failed to open database [1045] SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'username@localhost'@'gator7899.hostgator.com' (using password: YES) I have seen other posts in which people ask the same question but none of the answers given are working for me. Also, username is not my actual username and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14698256/how-do-i-fix-this-error-1045-sqlstate28000-1045 gator7899 is not the actual server. For security purposes I did not post them here. Does anyone know how to fix this? mysql database localhost share|improve this question edited Feb 5 '13 at 0:36 Lion 9,613135385 asked Feb 5 '13 at 0:34 Philip7899 1,7441648 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Make sure privledges are assigned in your CPanel -> mysql admin -> add user to database then you need to change your config to be localhost username = username of CPanel password = password of Cpanel share|improve this answer answered Feb 5 '13 at 0:39 Val 364110 I can't find the configuration file in the control panel or in the file directory. Any idea on where it would be? Thank you. –Philip7899 Feb 5 '13 at 0:47 I would look at the page that is displaying the error, look at the code/line where there is a connection to mysql and append the username and password accordingly. –Val Feb 5 '13 at 0:48 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. See MysqlPasswordReset.) But when I follow this up using terminal: Code: glenn@acer:~$ mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) glenn@acer:~$ Why is it giving me that error when I have already set the password?
