Policy Question 0 Sign in to vote There were a Windows 2008 R2 AD server error 1053 apple mobile device running in our environment. I found that when i log on to the Windows 2008 R2 member server in same domain by RDP, it take few error 1053 windows 8 minutes to load before my desktop could be loaded. These replication issues have been resolved, but there is an issue with clients applying group policies. The computer side of the policy applies every time, no problem. The issue is to do with user policies. If a student logs on to a machine they were using prior http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/145171-event-id-1053-group-policy.html to our replication issues, they receive all the relevant policies and the machine is locked down, as expected. If they log on to a machine they've never logged on to before, they don't receive any user group policy settings and the event viewer lists error 1053 (with the machine being wide open to their assault). Event 1053: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the user name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). Running a gpupdate /force doesn't apply these policies, only presenting this error... The processing of group policy. Windows could not resolve the user name. This could be caused by one of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller - We're quite confident this isn't the problem. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (An account created on another domain controller has no replicated to the current domain controller) - Checked this, all accounts have been replicated. Any suggestions? I've scoured the internet, but no luck. Thanks J. Send PM 18th November 2014,03:39 PM #2 JNStiles Join Date Jun 2013

Symptom 1 In the Event Viewer -Application Log- if you have https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27414470/Group-Policy-Failed-Windows-could-not-resolve-the-user-name.html an error id 1053 and description is similar to "Windows Cannot determine the user or computer name access is denied. Group policy aborted Symptom 2 When you run the resultant set error 1053 of policy, if you have a red cross in the report and an error similar to the following in the component status section Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below. (…) Access Denied … policy aborted Symptom 3 When you run DCDiag, you receive a warning about attribute userAccountControl value that is 0x82020 instead of 0x82000 Default value exists for this error 1053 windows UserAccountControl attribute (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305144) Possible Problem If a machine cannot process the GPO, it’s possible that the UserAccount Control flag value has been changed and you need to reset it to the default value Solution You need to reset the value to the default. You will need Adsiedit.msc go to the Domain node and locate the DC who has the problem. Right-click on the DC object and in the attributes tab locate the useraccountControl attribute. The default value should be set to 532480. In some other blogs, I was reading that pre-creating accounts in your AD could change the value of this attribute I think that this post might be useful because i've seen a lot of people having a "similar" problem. maybe this trick will solve their problems.. We recently installed a new router (Sonicwall) and transferred the task of DHCP to it instead of our Windows 2000 server. Now our users are getting long login times where Windows 7 just sits on the welcome screen for a while. Eventviewer throws the following errors: 1053 The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the user name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). 5719 This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain WESTMINSTERCO due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator. I am not very knowledgeable of troubleshooting client-server problems.
