Solved cannot start ccmsetup service error 1053 sccm Posted on 2009-12-07 MS Server OS MS Server Apps MS Development-Other 1 Verified Solution 14 Comments 5,966 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-21 hi, i am having issues with installing clients for sccm through client push. everytime i try to install the client through the sccm console, i recieve the error message 'cannot start service ccmsetup on 'machinename' error 1053' in the ccm.log file. i have client installation accounts configured that are domain admins, and they can access the \\client\admin$\system32\ path. in the control panel of the clients, configuration manager seems to be installed, but the service still doesnt start. it is run by local user. if i try to use another account, i get a logon error. in the sccm console, under collections, the machines are showing as assigned, and the correct stecode and domain is appering. under client it says no and under approved it says N/A. this is my first time installing sccm, so i may just be overlooking something. all feedback is gretly appreciated, many thanks, Gilda 0 Question by:soIT Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 22 Active 1 day ago Best Solution byAdam Leinss Take a look through here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632435.aspx Whatever value you put for SMSSLP should be pingable from the client. I am trying to install to these machines via two methods. Firstly via the " Install client" option when the collection is highlighted. The first set of errors come from this method (1) Second method is via a logon script that calls a VBS https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24957445/cannot-start-ccmsetup-service-error-1053-sccm.html script that checks for the presence of a client and then calls CAPINST.EXE, specifies the SLP and then adds the Advancec client options after the /AdvCliCmd switch Type 1. (from Push method) ---> ERROR: Unable to connect to remote registry for machine name " KKDFD7VV" , error 53. and ---> ERROR: Unable to access target machine for request: " KKDFD7VV" , machine name: " KKDFD7VV" , error code: http://www.myitforum.com/forums/Advanced-client-installation-issues-m99342.aspx 53 I am checking these clients to see that the remote registry service is started and that the group to which the SMS Client install account is a member of is added to the machines Local admins group Type 2 (from Logon script method) ---> ERROR: Unable to start service " ccmsetup" on machine " KKDFF3N" , error = 1053. and ---> Failed to install CCM Client Bootstrap component on client (1053) So it cannot install the components. Anyone any ideas on what else I can look at here ? #1 rmarshall Total Posts : 218 Scores: 18 Reward points : 6520 Joined: 8/2/2004Location: England Status: offline RE: Advanced client installation issues Tuesday, March 15, 2005 8:46 AM (permalink) 4 c:\>net helpmsg 53 The network path was not found. am very new to System Center. This may be something really simple that I overlooked. I have installed SCCM 2007 R3. I have configured the properties of just about everything http://www.networksteve.com/enterprise/topic.php/SCCM_2007_R3_-_Client_Push_Install_(and_manual_ccmsetup.exe)_Fai/?TopicId=22290&Posts=4 I could right click on to see properties in the console: Boundary is set, http://unable.start.service.ccmsetup.error.1053.winwizards.org/ Discovery is working, Client Push Installation and Client Agents configured, Reporting is working from a remote SQL Server and SRS, WSUS and Software Updates are configured and working, Active Directory is extended, permissions are set, firewalls disabled, Group Policy is configured, permissions are set in AD/WMI/DCOM/Local Administrators Group/etc, WMI remote scripts and object viewer can error 1053 connect to client with the Client Push user account, etc. The "All Systems" container discovered and shows all the PCs on the domain and the IP address of the router (Firebox). It is a simple network: a DC (which is the main site server and WSUS server), a SQL Server (which is the site reporting server), a Dev server (with 2 HyperV VMs), and one workstation. All ofthe servers ccmsetup error 1053 including the VMs are Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit systems - the Dev server is Datacenter, the rest are Standard. The workstation is Windows XP Pro SP3 32 bit. Client Push successfully installed the SCCM client on the Windows XP Pro SP3 32 bit workstation (after a lot of time and troubleshooting). When running Client Push on the Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit systems however, I always get the same errors in the ccm.log file - even when attempting the install on the site server itself (full log excerpt below). The main problem is WMI cannot connect to the SMS_Client object on the remote machine (in this case itself). Using the WMI Object Browser from another PC with the same credentials as the Client Push account shows the \\sfspa01svrdc01\root\sms namespace is available and is populated with site name values and such. (I'm not sure what exactly should be in there.) I've tried manually running ccmsetup.exe from the SCCM client folder share. It also fails to install the client and never shows a UI or anything. I've also tried Software Update Point Client Installation, which successfully causes Windows Update to show that the SCCM Client Install is available. However after installing it and rebooting a c
