not launch (on startup and manually). I see a 1053 error in eventLog for 3 services (and got 1053 pop-up when i launch it manually) -spooler (print) -hamachi -interactive service detection (maybe this one is causing http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-update/network-list-service-error-1053/8941a620-1405-4dbd-928f-5fc0b4b92e7b the 2 others problem) i already installed all latest windows updates, i ran scans, anti malware, checkdisk, uninstalled a lot of programs, but the problem still exists. Thoses services launched succesfully on rare cases, but i don t know why (for exemple it worked just after the reboot when i uninstalled office but when i reboot again it's broken) Wednesday, January 23, 2013 1:10 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/50708087-7558-4789-9222-f795da5d6ee8/error-1053-on-launching-windows-service?forum=w7itprogeneral to vote Hi, Please check to see if theresolutionin this KB is helpful. Thursday, January 24, 2013 8:43 AM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I already tried to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and i'm not developping a service, i'm just using a printer and hamachi software. I also tried to uninstall/install several times my printer pilotes or hamachi software. Yesterday, my pc crashed and when i rebooted i had my 2 services working (i still have the error about interactive service detection in eventLogs), but if i reboot again, the problem is the same. I also tried to disable all but my 2 services using msconfig + reboot but the problem was still here. I can put my eventLogs in there if u want Thursday, January 24, 2013 9:24 AM Reply | Quote 1 Sign in to vote Hello Not sure if this will help, but, worth a try. The reason why we need a gui for a windows service is in order to be able to re-configure the behaviour of the windows service(s) without resorting to stopping/re-starting. My code works fine in debug mode, and I get the context menu come up, and everything behaves correctly etc. When I install the service via "installutil" using a named account (i.e., not Local System Account), the service runs fine, but doesn't display the icon in the system tray (I know this is normal behavior because I don't have the "interact with desktop" option). Here is the problem though - when I choose the "LocalSystemAccount" option, and check the "interact with desktop" option, the service takes AGES to start up for no obvious reason, and I just keep getting Could not start the ... service on Local Computer. Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Incidentally, I increased the windows service timeout from the default 30 seconds to 2 minutes via a registry hack (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824344, search for TimeoutPeriod in section 3), however the service start up still times out. My first question is - why might the "Local System Account" login takes SOOOOO MUCH LONGER than when the service logs in with the non-LocalSystemAccount, causing the windows service time-out? what's could the difference be between these
