If I try to add a printer I get the error:'The operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running.'When I try to start the print spooler service I get this error immediately after pressing 'start':'Could not start the print spooler service on local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion'I'm at a loss as to how to fix this as I need to be able to create .pdf files as well as install a new printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated...!ThanksTD Back to top BC AdBot (Login to Remove) BleepingComputer.com Register to remov

One day they were there, the next gone. When I try to "Add http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/266353/printer-spooler-problem-error-1053/ a printer", I get the message that says "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running". This happened after I tried to remove the Kodak Easy Share program. I have tried to restore to several earlier dates, did a shut down and did a F8 and highlighted "last known good configuration" while starting up windows, and nothing works. I also tried to install a http://www.theeldergeek.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22400 printer and got an error message that says the "RPC server is unavailable"...PLEASE HELP. Getting fustrated..... The problem: The print spooler won't start when my computer comes on or when I try to start it from the services window. I get an error 1053 which says it didn't respond in a "timely fashion." Steps I have taken (none worked): 1. I reset my computer. 2. I opened Run and did "sfc /scannow" which scanned but nothing seemed to happen. error 1053 3. I booted from my XP Installation CD and chose to repair windows (it had recognized that it was damaged). The repair was successful and fixed a few of my other problems but no print spooler. 4. I made sure lexbces worked and ran properly (even thought it wasn't listed as a dependent). 5. I removed all traces of lexbces. 6. I made sure RPC was working. 7. I ran the Microsoft Fixit program for the printer spooler. On light mode it processed but changed error 1053 lexbce nothing. On full mode it "failed to process." None of these helped at all. The spooler still will not start and I get the exact same error. I can't install my printer and I can't even frigging SCAN (all I actually want to do, I never print) Because photoshop won't make a TWAIN for my printer and when I select WIA Support it says that no WIA devices are connected. sixthcrusifix, Sep 17, 2009 #1 Sponsor srhoades Joined: May 15, 2003 Messages: 2,281 Open up printers and faxes, file, server properties, drivers. Remove ALL the installed printer drivers. the print spooler should then start. Reinstall your printers. srhoades, Sep 17, 2009 #2 sixthcrusifix Thread Starter Joined: Sep 15, 2009 Messages: 7 My Printers and Faxes folder is completely empty. No drivers or printers are installed at all. sixthcrusifix, Sep 17, 2009 #3 srhoades Joined: May 15, 2003 Messages: 2,281 Ok. Make sure you can view hidden files and folder. Navigate to c:\windows\system32\spool\printers If anything is there delete it. srhoades, Sep 17, 2009 #4 srhoades Joined: May 15, 2003 Messages: 2,281 I just realized the reason there are no print drivers displayed is because the service is not starting, duh. There is a Microsoft support article about how to delete installed printers in the registry, I'm almost positive you are going to have to go that route. I had to do that when I had a corrupt HP driver. srhoades, Sep 17, 2009 #5 sixthcrusifix Thread Starte
