There is no reason why client should run an old, unsupported version of NBU. It also makes no sense to try and troubleshoot an old, unsupported version of NBU, Please upgrade client and ensure that all NBU services startup successfully. At this point, we can help to troubleshoot SQL policy in a separate discussion. PS: there should be some record in Event viewer logs of failed Service startup attempt. NetBackUP Client Service. http://osdir.com/ml/sysutils.backup.veritasbu/2006-05/msg00592.html But the error appeared much faster then 30 seconds which is actual service timeout, so the message was incorrect. The problem was that affected server was joined into error 1053 MSCS to host SQL server group. So to backup MSSQL we run NetBackUP Client Service as domain user with rights to access SQL bases. To start service correctly domain user must have local server administrator right. netbackup client service After I've added this user to local administrator's group error gone. 0 Kudos Don'tmove! an another Windows 2003 SP1 machine netstat -a and netstat -an are also have very long response times Have tried restart the services on the Netbackup Master server, to get rid of any hanging bpbrm connections. Any ideas/suggestions on how to avoid reboot of the client ? Regards Michael -- Cybercity Webhosting (http://www.cybercity.dk) Thread at a glance: Previous Message by Date: Re: problem when restoring sql This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Try to set the Client Read timeout on the master server to 3600. Can it be that the database is a couple of GB in size? This can happen during restores of larger databases.
