control request in atimely ByRsawyer16 Dec 5, 2009 Hey Guys I have a computer running windows xp pro sp3 there are several services that are stopped like work station , Network Connections, Windows Management Instrumentation ect when I try to start the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/b131ac23-25ba-44f2-9d1b-eac387fc6879/network-connections-service-error?forum=winservergen service I get the following error "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" I have installed the .net framwork 1.1 service pack 1 which is recommended by microsoft how ever this still has not resolved the issue. I need to back up vital data off the system and because of various services not running I am unable to access usb, cd drives and the network which makes it hard for backing up data.
