to vote I have SQL server 2005, (on server 2003 standard) when I try to start the service I get this error "could error 1053 sql server reporting service won't start not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service on the local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." also this error in event viewer Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service to connect. Edited sql server error 1053 the service did not respond by Jeff_1 Saturday, March 03, 2012 8:15 AM Saturday, March 03, 2012 6:41 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Here is the solution 1.ran process monitorhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 2.Ran SQL service from command line (copied path and syntax from services properties) 3. Saw this file location in process monitor running as the service attempted to run C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.4053_x-ww_e69679\MSVCP80.dll 4. opened thatdirectoryand noticed file size and date forMSVCP80.dll was different then the one in SQL setup and install directory. So I replaced it The bad msvcp80.dll file is 542KB 7/12/2009 The good file msvcp80.dll 536 KB 10/14/2005 Marked as answer by Jeff_1 Monday, March 05, 2012 4:35 PM Edited by Jeff_1 Monday, March 05, 2012 4:53 PM Monday, March 05, 2012 4:31 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote You wll find the reason

Windows Could Not Start The Sql Server (sqlexpress) Service On Local Computer
not coming ONLINE. As usual the DBA said NOTHING changed, it just happened!! One of the first things we normally do is to start the service from the https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/58b525bb-a943-4ecb-9184-9257db017670/sql-server-service-start-error-1053?forum=sqlkjappmsmgmt SQL Server Configuration Manager/Services console so that we can isolate the issue. In this case we found that the service was failing to start with the below errors:- -------------- TITLE: Services -------------- Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/techreflections/2015/05/16/oh-not-again-sql-server-service-is-not-starting/ control request in a timely Fashion. Button: OK ------------- Generic error, you don’t expect much from the GUI anyways!! Went for the SQL Server Errorlogs and Application/System Event viewer logs. We did not find the Errorlog created in the SQL Server folder nor did any errors get logged in the Application/System logs. Commonly, in such scenarios, the start-up parameters are goofed up but in this case it was not. So the next logical step was to start the service in the command prompt in console mode:- C:\Windows\system32>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.R2\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sR2 –c _ It did show any message indicating that the service in not even initialising. It appeared that it was sort of in a hung state. Strange!! Then I pulled out the next tool from my toolkit: - PROCESS MONITOR a.k.a PROCMON (I hope most of you get the reason why I put that in CAPS for those of you who did not ..read on) So I collected a PROCMON while running the se
