It works fine on my laptop though. When I start https://community.microstrategy.com/t5/Platform-Installation-Deployment/Error-1053-the-service-did-not-respond-to-start-or-control/td-p/86788 up PT4, the "Configure PostgreSQL Server" window pops up. I click connect with 'postgres' as Database User and 'dbpass' as password. I get the message "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration." When I go into services and try to start up postgresql-x64-9.0... I get another error message saying "Windows could not start the postgresql-x64- 9.0 - PostgresQL Server 9.0 error 1053 service on Local Computer.Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." What now? Also, should I re-install or update postgresQL? if yes then does it matter which version I install?Im on Windows 7 and all firewall exceptions have been madeThank you! iliveinmyguitar Posts: 2Joined: Thu Jan 08, 2015 2:18 pm Top Re: Unable to connect PostgreSQL Server by WhiteRider » Thu Jan 08, 2015 4:09 pm That does suggest a postgresql x64 9.0 problem with your security software so you may want to check our Firewall Guide. If you don't yet have a database you want to keep you can certainly try reinstalling PostgreSQL.
