Did you find how to solve it? –tviana Jul 21 '14 at 11:11 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Go to the Program Files\ApacheDS\instances\default\conf and modify the log4j.properties Change all FATAL log level to the DEBUG and restart the service. You can find what is the main reason of problem in new log files that are produced in the Program Files\ApacheDS\instances\default\log For example I have this problem after change the log level, I found the main error is ERR_250_ENTRY_ALREADY_EXISTS ou=system already exists! And this is an open issue in the ApacheDS https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-1954 Hope this help you! share|improve this answer answered Dec 16 '14 at 7:01 Mohamad Kouhi Moghadam 10918 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Might it be, that you have selected javas /bin folder during installation as Java root directory? I uninstalled and installed apache httpd for windows again but the behaviour was exactly the same. Once starts immediately after install. I have set the service start to manual and have attempted to manually start but all I get is service error http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17651546/issue-in-starting-apache-ds that reads: "Could not start ApacheDS - default on local Computer. Two things : first, check the logs level, it's likely that it's too heavy (DEBG ?) second, you can increase the timeout in the wrapper configuration Show Emmanuel Lecharny added a comment - 19/Dec/13 14:18 Bottom line : t
yesterday, when I tried to add a new entry. I was getting the following message: #!RESULT ERROR #!CONNECTION ldap://ipajm-06:10389 #!DATE 2010-06-15T15:21:30.578 #!ERROR [LDAP: error code 68 - ENTRY_ALREADY_EXISTS: failed for Add Request http://osdir.com/ml/users-directory-apache/2010-06/msg00029.html : ClientEntry dn: 2.5.4.3=fulano de tal,2.5.4.11=people,2.5.4.10=ipajm objectclass: top objectclass: person objectclass: organizationalPerson objectclass: inetOrgPerson sn: de tal ou: SCO cn: Fulano de Tal telephonenumber: 12345678 title: Auxiliar Técnico Previdenciário givenname: fulano mail: fulano@xxxxxxxxxx : http://serverfault.com/questions/214435/error-1067-the-process-terminated-unexpectedly-when-trying-to-install-mysql-o cn=Fulano de Tal,ou=people,o=ipajm already exists!] However, this entry wasn't duplicated because I'd just deleted it. So, I openned the "services.msc" console and restared the service apacheds-default, but the service didn't restart, with the following error 1067 message: "Could not start the Apache Directory Server - default service on local computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." Since that, I can't start the service anymore. I had the version 1.5.4 of apacheds and then I updated to version 1.5.7, but the problem persists. I suspect this is a problem with an installed Windows Update but the last installed update was on 17/04/2010, and apache service error 1067 was working until yesterday. Do you have any idea about this problem? Tks, Fabiano Louzada. Thread at a glance: Previous Message by Date: Upgrading to Apache 1.5.7 Hi We are upgrading to Apache 1.5.7 from Apache 1.5.4. We have some approval issues for certain packages they are: 1. bouncy castle : bcprov-jdk15-140.jar Is it okay to use bouncy castle 1.34 instead of 140? We have approval for bcprov-jdk15-134 but not for bcprov-jdk15-140.jar. I replaced it with bcprov-jdk15-134 and changed the code (javax.security.auth.x500.X500Principal.TlsKeyGenerator.java) :- certGen.generate( privateKey, "BC" ) to certGen.generateX509Certificate( privateKey, "BC" ); Hope this is ok? Could you please let me know how to test this? I mean a test case to test this feature? 2. Jetty: jetty-6.1.14.jar and jetty-util-6.1.14.jar. I just removed these jars and commented the org.apache.directory.server.Service.initHttpServer() and removed the server.integration package. I hope this will not impact Apache DS as any way Jetty server is not invoked by default and we have no plan to configure http setting in server.xml. -- Sudheer Kumar Arimbra Next Message by Date: Re: [ApacheDS] Service won't starts on Windows Server 2k3 Hi, Can you provide any logs ? My PC is Windows 7 x64, Enterprise edition. MySQL installs fine, but when I run the "MySQL Instance Configuration Wizard", it pauses forever on the step "Start Service" (I can let it run for 30 minutes with no response). If I go into services, I see that the "MySQL" service hasn't started, and if I try to start it, it says "Windows could not start MySQL Service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." I've tried the following: Turning off firewall. Uninstalling all antivirus software. Installing / reinstalling 32-bit version of MySQL. Installing / reinstalling 64-bit version of MySQL. Uninstalling, deleting the contents of "C:\program files\MySQL" and "C:\program files (x86)\MySQL", reinstalling. Checking to see that there is no rogue services named MySQL???? (from a previous install). Checking that port 3306 is not used by an alternate program. Changing the default port that MySQL uses. Checking for "my.ini" and "my.ini.cnf" in "C:\windows" (nothing there but that can cause a problem). Running both MySQL installer, and configuration wizard, in "Adminstrator mode". Turning off UAC. Installing with defaults, not changing anything. Rebooting my machine (about 6 reboots so far). Opening up port 3306 in the firewall (both TCP and UDP, inbound and outbound). Swearing at the klutz of a programmer who designed MySQL so you can't even install it (as if that would help!) My machine is working 100% in every other way. InfiniDB (a MySQL compatible database) installs 100%, as does Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server, etc, etc. Your advice on how to work around this? p.s. Here is the screen it got stuck on for 15 minutes until I killed the process: Update 2010-12-20 Tried MySQL v5.1, it didn't wo
