I went with installing the BESX onto the Exchange Server directly as we had the BPS on a different server. During the install I had a few problems but I think I got around most of them. Ever since I upgraded to 4.1.4 from 4.1.0, I can't get the MDS service to start. The problem manifests itself in two ways: 1.) Handhelds get e-mail, but can't access any intranet/internet resources ("A communication failure occurred with the Mobile Data Service server..."). 2.) I can't start the MDS service in the Blackberry Manager, and I can't start the service manually in the Windows services snap-in. I get a "Error 1067 - The process terminated unexpectedly." I have tried everything that I've been able to find in the RIM support database, and I have uninstalled and re-installed (going through the registry purging steps, etc.) several times. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Also--here's a snippet of the pertinent log (or at least the only log file I could find anything in): [30000] (08/10 19:52:54.736):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' will start in 50 seconds [30000] (08/10 19:53:04.752):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' will start in 40 seconds [30000] (08/10 19:53:14.768):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' will start in 30 seconds [30000] (08/10 19:53:24.783):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' will start in 20 seconds [30000] (08/10 19:53:34.783):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' will start in 10 seconds [30000] (08/10 19:53:44.814):{0x1384} Starting Mobile Data Service 'local' [30000] (08/10 19:53:44.892):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service 'local' started [30000] (08/10 19:53:44.892):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service state: Starting, PID=9692 [30000] (08/10 19:53:45.924):{0x1384} Mobile Data Service state: Stopped, PID=0 [30000] (08/10 19:53:45.924):{0x1384} Found unexpectedly terminated Mobile Data Service 'local' This repeats over and over again, but as you can see, it doesn't give much indication as to what's causing it to fail.
