I initially installed WAMP and everything worked fine. I restarted my computer and MySQL server hasn't worked since. I have been trying to install just MySQL and the "SQL Instance Config" freezes and when trying to start the service I receive the "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly". I have searched for hours online trying all of the various

So, I typed in the command prompt: 'net start MySQL', and it gave me this error message listed in the subject line. Anyone know how to alleviate this? I guess I backed up the necessary files first (data folder from mysql folder and the htdocs folder). Uninstall XAMPP. Check the xampp folder for any content that remains and delete everything. You may want to reboot afterwards, just in case. Then reinstall XAMPP. Copy the backed-up folders back to their respective places, and hopefully, mySql will work again in XAMPP. share|improve this answer answered Aug 9 '11 at 14:44 Giraldi 6,77231522 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote In my case it was enough to give full (absolute) paths to the xampp/mysql/bin/my.ini file. For example I changed basedir from "/xampp/mysql/" to: "E:/xampp/mysql/", and so on. share|improve this answer answered Oct 4 '11 at 13:48 boryn 1088 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote This or this might help you, if you're on windows According to the posts, uninstalling then reinstalling with the --defaults-file option would fix the problem. Make sure to have the Services manager window closed, as this can cause weird bugs while trying to fix the problem share|improve this answer answered Jan 2 '11 at 6:08 Famver Ta

I am trying to install the windows service. Running mysqld --install seems to work OK and the service appears in the Services index error 1067 as MySQL set to automatic. However, when I try and start the service I get the following error: Could not start the MySQL service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The program terminated unexpectedly. MySQL is installed at C:\Program Files\MySQL\mysql\ The service has the correct path to the executable & the registry seems to be correct. Any error 1067 mysql help would be very much appreciated - many thanks.
