Cannot start apache tomcat6 service because the process terminated unexpectedly, you will see this error if windows could not start the apache tomcat 6 on local computer you have installed apache tomcat6 on Microsoft Windows 2003 server along with JRE1.6 and the scenario will be the installation of multiple JRE and JDK installed on that respective system. Despite of doing everything the service will never be in running mode until you fix the error. Fix of this error is very simple and easy, First of all check if the java installed on the system is working fine. You can check it by going to command prompt and entering the following command: java or java –version if you get the answer given as under: U:>java Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object To resolve this issue go to configure properties of the apache tomcat6 and change the path of the working JRE. This will be the configuration only for Apache Tomcat 6 and will not effect the whole system. This Site Careers Other all forums Forum: Tomcat I can't start tomcat service hesham katon Ranch Hand Posts: 82 posted 9 years ago OS : Windows XP I have installed Java sdk I have installed apache http server i downloaded tomcat from: https://coderanch.com/t/86968/Tomcat/start-tomcat-service Binary Distributions > Core >windows service installer" I have installed apache tomcat 6.0.7 i have set JAVE_HOME to the java sdk installation place and CATALINA_HOME to the tomcat installation place now , when i am trying to run Tomcat from services window i get this message : "windows could not start the apache tomcat" and code number is 0 i have tried lot of alternatives but nothing works the same error i tried to error 1067 install new windows and try all of that again , but the same error i tried to install the "zip" version but i got the same error ! any one can help me thank you in advance Hesham Katon
