MySQL typically writes something to the Application log. In very rare cases it does not write anything (I'm only aware of one particular bug http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=56821, where services did not work at all). There is also error log file, normally named .err in the data directory that has the same info as written to windows error log. share|improve this answer answered Feb 7 '11 at 19:39 Vladislav Vaintroub 3,1981119 add a comment| up vote 14 down vote You need to: stop the MySQL service: Open mysql path\data Remove both ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1. Restart the service share|improve this answer edited Mar 13 '14 at 20:11 Lucas Zamboulis 2,24151725 answered Mar 13 '14 at 19:47 mohsen.rmz 14112 This really isn't a good solution as it will delete most (if not all) tables from your database. –tjhorner May 4 '14 at 20:55 This worked for me and my database tables didn't got got deleted. –Hyder B. Error 1067 The Process Terminated Unexpectedly Apache
unexpectedly' error occurs when installing MySQL 5.1.51 from sources as a Windows service. Used compiler - Visual Studio Express 2008. Tried both Debug and Release configurations. The error (*.err) file http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4758844/error-1067-the-process-terminated-unexpectedly-when-trying-to-start-mysql is created, but is empty. When i start mysqld.exe --standalone, it starts and works correctly. If I replace an executable compiled by me with the executable from the bimary distributions (only mysqld.exe, leaving everything else unchanged), then the service starts successfully. How to repeat: 1. Download sources (MySQL Community Server -> 5.1.51 -> Generally Available -> Source Code). 2. Used https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=57614 configuration: configure WITH_INNOBASE_STORAGE_ENGINE 3. Compile with Visual Studio Express 2008 4. Install the server as a Windows service. Expected result: service is running. Got result: 'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly', and service is not running. Suggested fix: I've traced the server and found a bad behaviour in the reopen_fstreams() function in the sql/log.cc file. It currently contains the following lines: if (outstream) { stream_fd= _fileno(outstream); if (_dup2(handle_fd, stream_fd) < 0) { CloseHandle(osfh); return TRUE; } } After compiling with VS Express-2008, I see that outstream is not NULL, but _fileno() returns -2. MSDN says this is the expected behaviour if stdout is not assosiated with a stream, for example, in a Windows application without a cosole window: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/zs6wbdhx(v=VS.90).aspx Now, having the stream_fd equals -2, the subsequent call to _dup2() returns -1 (and sets errno=9), because -2 is an invalid handler. Having this, reopen_fstreams() returns true, and the server terminates. As a quick fix, i've tried to add an additional check: if (outstream) { stream_fd= _fileno(outstream); if(stream_fd>0) { if (_dup2(handle_fd, stream_fd) < 0) { CloseHandle(osfh); return TR

Now i went and opened my.cnf file pointed the Basedir and Data dir to E:/mysql and E:/mysql/data/ Saved it as my.cnf on root of E: drive and for the hell of it on C: however this is not read but what the hey. (C: is WIN2K Partition) So now i go in my E:\mysql\bin directory and make mysqld-nt.exe a automatic service under my XP by typing the following: E:\Mysql\Bin\mysqld-nt --install Then i typed in E:\net start mysql And this is what i get after it starts to load: ***** E:\MYSQL\BIN>net start mysql The MySQL service is starting. The MySQL service could not be started A system error has occurred. System error 1067 has occurred. The process terminated unexpectedly. ******** I even made a my.ini file under my E:\windows directory (remember XP installs to WINDOWS not WINNT unless you make it WINNT) Why doesn’t this work? start the wampmysqld service on Local Computer Posted by: roula (77.44.210.---)Date: April 20, 2011 10:44AMplease help me with this, i recently uninstalled appserv and installed wampserver 2.1 on windows xp sp3. the icon is orange and i checked the services and found that wampmysqld is not started. when i click start it gives the error (Could not start the wampmysqld service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.)i uninstalled and cleaned the folders and registry items and re-installed but the problem is still there.i checked port 3306 (run > cmd > netstat -a -n) but didn't find it listed there so i think this means its free?i also want to mention that when i had appserv the username and password were different than "root" and no password, i was using a password and using a different username. so i don't know if this can be the issue. i opened my.ini and uncommented the password line and put the old pass and restarted wamp but still didn't work, and i didn't know how to change "root" to the old username. i don't know if the old username and password are still applied or they're gone when i uninstalled appserv..pls help!Edited 1 time(s).
