I'm also getting 1067 when trying to start searchd as a service (running on Window$ XP, SP3). When run from the console searchd works fine in console mode, but I really need this to be running as a service. Usual reasons for failure to start as a service: * log file or PID file directories don't exist * config file not in the same directory as searchd.exe (in which case, specify the config file's path with --config C:\path\to\sphinx.conf, using your actual path) If it's the config path, you'll need to look at removing the existing service setup, and installing it with "searchd --install --config

Solved Service will not start: error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly Posted on 2011-11-03 http://sphinxsearch.com/forum/view.html?id=1813 MS Legacy OS 3 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 12,759 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 Good Morning, We have a custom service that we install with our application. The only problem is that after it is installed, it will not start, generating the error above. I have tried to diagnose what the problem is, but can't seem to find any useful information as to why https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27429941/Service-will-not-start-error-1067-the-process-terminated-unexpectedly.html it is quitting. I have tried the same service on a non "R2" 2008 server, and it worked fine. The service works in conjunction with our web application; it updates the application's database to reschedule activities. As I am not a programmer, I can't express what exactly it is doing. Has anyone had any experience troubleshooting this type of problem, where there are so few clues? Sorry, but I need help again. I had everything working on our testbed Windows 2003 platform (for reverse proxy accelerator services), and so when I go and deploy Squid in the same fashion on the live proxy server, I get the following when trying to start the SQUID service: "Could not start the Squid service on local computer. Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly." error 1067 I actually received this error when trying to start it on the test server as well, but was able to resolve it by upgrading the server to SP2. The live server already has SP2 installed but I installed all outstanding patches on it anyway, just in case - no deal. On both machines I ran the squid -z command to establish the log directory first. I'm really floored by error 1067 the why this is happening though and would GREATLY appreciate anybody's help. We're supposed to be going live with this now and this recurring issue is really raining on the parade! Many thanks as ever. Philip de Souza 2001 S.
