I'm seeing the following error: Windows could not start the Mysql service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly. What does this mean, and how can I fix it? php mysql windows-7 xampp share|improve this question edited Sep 20 '12 at 15:56 Pops♦ 14.5k21100135 asked Jan 21 '11 at 12:34 Egglabs 1,09272341 Also true for WCF windows services that produce the same error. –Noich Mar 20 '13 at 13:42 add a mysql error 1067 invalid default value datetime comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote accepted Examine error log (start eventvwr.msc). MySQL typically writes something to the Application log. In very rare cases it does not write anything (I'm only aware of one particular bug http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=56821, where services did not work at all). There is also error log file, normally named .err in the data directory that has the same info as written to windows error log. share|improve this answer answered Feb 7 '11 at 19:39 Vladislav Vaintroub 3,1981119 add a comment| up vote 14 down vote You need to: stop the MySQL service: Open mysql path\data Remove both ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1. Aug 22 '14 at 10:23 This worked for me, and no data loss. The files are recreated on restart. on Windows the delete files is at ProgramData. I don't know the reason. –zeddarn Oct 26 '14 at 17:48 Thanks a lot mate. You saved me..! –smashIT Apr 28 '

I could fix it: 1. stopping the MySQL service in services.msc and starting the MySQL 55 service Dirk Nice how all sites show the same solution, but nobody explains how to create a default my.ini file. This is why people hate open source software. You have a nice installer for MySQL, but it NEVER, EVER, installs correctly at once. You first need to create a my.ini file yourself to get rid of http://mydailytech.com/how-to-fix-mysql-error-1067/ the errors, and of course you need to figure out by youself how to do it. God, I hate MySQL. This is the 20+ time I install MySQL on a clean server, and I always try to use a proper directory, but it never ever works. vinodh This works . great Sanojoel Service successfully installed. but again the same error… its not working form me bluelurker Yeah it sucks when you don't find appropriate solutions . That error almost killed me. Later I realised that it was caused by enabling AWE memory[innodb_buffer_pool_awe_mem_mb] in mysql 5.0.server . After disabling it everything worked well. If you were running with a log file size of 5MB, this was probably a bad bottleneck for you! –Bill Karwin Jun 13 '13 at 17:23 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I had the same issue the

To sum up the problem: whith the .msi installer I get MySQL registered as a service, but unable to start (error 1067); with a manual install I get the service running but the console gives back a 10061 error when checking for server functionality. My question here is if anyone has familiarity with this kind of problem in Windows 8.1 and can hint to a solution or at least figure out which may be the problem. This is a much more detailed explanations of the same facts: I encountered a problem with the configuration of the MysQL server, the server has installed and it is running in the Windows services, but the installation prompt stops at the "Starting Server" step of configuration. The log reads: "Stop servce. OK. Set service. OK. Set firewall. OK. Start service ..." then it just stops there giving messages that signals that too much time is passing. If I try to manually start the service from services.msc I get a 1067 error (process terminated unexpectedly). If I interrupt the configuration and try to proceed with the wizard I get a page wich list the MySQL server as installed but stopped and I can't establish a connection with the password I set up. I may try to change the default port, but the configuration log says that nothing is wrong with the firewall. I tryed to do all of this from the Administrator account and the behavior is the same. Then I tried to install the server manually from the Administrator account and eventually got a running service, but this is what I get: ..\bin>mysql --install MySQL56 --local-service (and subsequently: ..\bin>mysql --install MySQL56) Service successfully installed. (The service is listed in services.msc as an automatically managed service). ..\bin>mysqlshow msqlshow: Can't connect to
