the Windows Image Acquisition service under Windows XP I get the following error: Could not start the Windows Image Acquistion (WIA) service on Local Computer. Error 1067. The process terminated unexpectedly. The service shows up fine in the Microsoft Management Console. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks, David Anonymous, Aug 17, 2004 #1 Advertisements Kelly Guest Hi David, While in services.msc what is the service set to? Automatic, Manual, Disabled? In the meantime, go to Start/Run/Regedit, navigate to this key and set accordingly: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\stisvc "Start"=dword:00000004 -- All the Best, Kelly http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/reparing-wia-error-code-1067-and-wia-appcrash/5222d76a-d31e-4910-b106-c9a48f65c84b Microsoft-MVP Windows® XP 2004 Windows MVP "Winny" Award Troubleshooting Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com "Anonymous" <> wrote in message news:eIQ33W$... > When I try to start the Windows Image Acquisition service under Windows XP > I > get the following error: > > Could not start the Windows Image Acquistion (WIA) service on Local > Computer. They were functioning together just fine, but now the Canon scanner won't work. I have called Canon and traced the error 1067 problem to the WIA service--it won't start. When I try to start it manually, it says "Could not start the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." This started because the buttons on the scanner were not launching the Canon scanner software. I uninstalled and reinstalled the canon scanner software, and after that it won't error 1067 wia communicate with the scanner. The scanner shows up in the Device Manager, and the drivers are installed. The Canon guy said before he can even begin to help the WIA service has to be working. How can I get it to work? I've tried uninstalling SP2, and I got the same error under SP1. Then I reinstalled SP2 and same error. I am considering a repair install (or maybe even a clean install) of Windows XP. I think this is related to the DEP problem that everyone was having with the HP PSC-2710. I installed a patch from HP to solve that, I wonder if that broke WIA? enderws, Jan 31, 2005 #1 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
