for me, see: http://serverfault.com/questions/214435/error-1067-the-process-terminated-unexpectedly-when-trying-to-install-mysql-on Ulliam It happends to me too. I could fix it: 1. stopping the MySQL service in services.msc and starting the MySQL 55 service Dirk Nice how all sites show the same solution, but nobody explains how to create a default my.ini file. This is why people hate open source software. You have a nice installer for MySQL, but it NEVER, EVER, installs correctly at once. You mysql error 1067 invalid default value datetime first need to create a my.ini file yourself to get rid of the errors, and of course you need to figure out by youself how to do it. That error almost killed me. Later I realised that it was caused by enabling AWE memory[innodb_buffer_pool_awe_mem_mb] in mysql 5.0.server . After disabling it everything worked well. fairly new to MySQL and have encountered an installation problem. I am trying to install the windows service. Running mysqld --install seems to work OK and the http://mydailytech.com/how-to-fix-mysql-error-1067/ service appears in the Services index as MySQL set to automatic. However, when I try and start the service I get the following error: Could not start the MySQL service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The program terminated unexpectedly. MySQL is installed at C:\Program Files\MySQL\mysql\ The service has the correct path to the executable http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,11388,11388 & the registry seems to be correct. Any help would be very much appreciated - many thanks. MySQL would install with no problem, work all day with no problem, then fail after a reboot. First I checked the my.ini file and saw no obvious problems (it was also the default my.ini file produced by the installer). Since the service wouldn't start, I created a new one that made sure it was reading the right .ini file: mysqld --install MySql2 --defaults-file="c:my.ini" 1 mysqld --install MySql2 --defaults-file="c:my.ini" … but to no avail, as the same error occurred. Eventually I gave up and reinstalled MySQL. But it still didn't work! I did learn two interesting things: When trying to delete a service from Windows, make sure that the Services Manager is not open. The deleted service only gets truly deleted when the Services Manager is closed, which may leave you wondering why it's taking so long ("This service is marked for deletion"). When you need to reinstall MySQL, in order to really start fresh, you need to do three things: Uninstall MySQL (Add/remove programs, etc.) Delete the MySQL program directory Delete the MySQL data directory (under Documents and Settings, Application Data, etc.) When I did a truly "fresh" install of MySQL, it act

To sum up the problem: whith the .msi installer I get MySQL registered as a service, but unable to start (error 1067); with a manual install I get the service running but the console gives back a 10061 error when checking for server functionality. My question here is if anyone has familiarity with this kind of problem in Windows 8.1 and can hint to a solution or at least figure out which may be the problem. This is a much more detailed explanations of the same facts: I encountered a problem with the configuration of the MysQL server, the server has installed and it is running in the Windows services, but the installation prompt stops at the "Starting Server" step of configuration. The log reads: "Stop servce. OK. Set service. OK. Set firewall. OK. Start service ..." then it just stops there giving messages that signals that too much time is passing. If I try to manually start the service from services.msc I get a 1067 error (process terminated unexpectedly). If I interrupt the configuration and try to proceed with the wizard I get a page wich list the MySQL server as installed but stopped and I can't establish a connection with the password I set up. I may try t
