So my DHCP Client Service Won't Start, I get Error 1068 Which is the dependency services or group failed to start. The dependencies I have for the DHCP Client https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/183901 Service are Ancilliary Function Driver for Winsock, NetIO Legacy TDI Driver (Hit + Sign to get TCP/IP Protocol Driver), Network Store Interface Service (+ sign to NSI proxy service). The only service from that list I see under Services is the Network Store Interface Service and it is started. Now I don't know where to go from here. I read http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/26306-42-dhcp-client-service-start-error-1068 that Norton could mess with this service, I had Norton 360 but switched to AVG about 6 months ago and have had no problems in the meantime. Original Post: Starting yesterday I haven't been able to connect to my network via Ethernet. I'm using the onboard network adapter from my ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe mobo and Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. Under device manager my network adapter is NVIDIA nforce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. That's a generic name, I checked my mobo specs and it's specifically a NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP. I have the latest driver which is 67.8.9.0. My router is a Linksys WRT54GSv4. I want to use a dynamic IP address, I have a static IP set up on my wireless and that's working fine right now. But I can't connect using either of my Ethernet ports. I've switched ports on my router, but my 360 connects no problem so I don't think it's the router. Under network connections my Local Area Connection is stuck on "Identifying..." If I double click it and click details I have no de

When you attempt to start the Service manually, the following error may be displayed: Error: Could not start the DHCP Client Service on local computer Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. Resolution The DHCP Client Service in Windows XP, depends on these three components: AFD NetBios over Tcpip TCP/IP Protocol Driver If one of the above drivers fail to start, then the DHCP Client Service may not start. Step I - Make sure that the three driver files are present Open Windows Explorer and navigate to %Windir%\System32\Drivers folder. Make sure that the following files are present in the folder: afd.sys tcpip.sys netbt.sys If one or more of the above driver files are missing, extract them from the Windows XP CD-ROM or from the ServicePackFiles\i386 folder, whichever is the latest version. Step II - Verify the number of Dependencies From other sources in the Web, I've found that installation of Norton Antivirus (NAV) adds an entry to the DHCP Service dependencies, and removing NAV does not remove the corresponding entry from the DHCP Dependencies. To view the dependency services registered for DHCP Client Service, type the following command in Start, Run dialog: CMD /K SC QC DHCP Verify the output. It should be exactly as below: [SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS SERVICE_NAME: dhcp TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs LOAD_ORDER_GROUP : TDI TAG : 0 DISPLAY_NAME : DHCP Client DEPENDENCIES : Tcpip : Afd : NetBT SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem If additional entries are listed u
