"Error 1075: The dependancy service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." Does the Computer Browser Service have a dependancy that isn't started maybe? I have no idea what it might be. Any other ideas? Thanks! Rikku, Feb 26, 2003 #1 Sponsor error 1075 rawmeat Joined: May 17, 1999 Messages: 1,052 I believe that the only dependency for the browser service is the workstation service, although the server service may also be needed. Any other problems or indications of trouble? Can you connect to other PCs/servers using the IP address or name? rawmeat, Feb 26, 2003 #2 Rikku Thread Starter Joined: Dec 11, 2001 Messages: 743 Ok, Workstation service is started, there is no Server service. (This error 1075 the is Windows 2000 Pro) All ip connectivity is good. I am trying to install Arcserve Manager and it requires the Computer Browser service. Rikku, Feb 26, 2003 #3 rawmeat Joined: May 17, 1999 Messages: 1,052 Rikku, If you go into Computer management and open the services, right-click on the Computer browser service and select properties, there is a dependencies tab. Try that to see if it provides you any help. Mine states that it does need both workstation and server service (I have w2k pro also). If you don't have the server service listed, that is your problem. rawmeat, Feb 26, 2003 #4 Rikku Thread Starter Joined: Dec 11, 2001 Messages: 743 Thanks Raw, I had never really noticed that Dependencies tab - neat! Ok, well I only have Computer Browser listed as a Dependency. And no, I don't have Server listed as a service. So, how do I get the Server service installed? Wonder where it went to begin with? I did check a couple other of my w2k workstations and they have the Server service. Rikku, Feb 26, 2003 #5 rawmeat Joined: May 17, 1999 Messages: 1,052 Rikku, I tried searching MSDN and technet online with no luck finding any article on the server service missing, but there is a link to ask

Want to share files between desk and laptop. The desktop gains no access to workgroups. What I found out so far. Computer browser service must be enabled (preferably automatic). I get Could not start Computer Browser Service on Local Computer Error 1075: The dependancy service does not exist or has been marked for deletion. The service name is svchost.exe -k netsvcs One fix is After setting the restore point, to remove this dependency, do this: * Click: Start * Click: Run... * Type: regedit * Click: OK * Navigate to the following keys in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCP HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT * For each of these, on the right side, double-click: DependOnService * Delete any lines containing either SYMTDI or NISDRV. * Click: OK * Close the Registry Editor. * Reboot. Alright if I could find the right side double clickable option which I dont see anywhere in my registry edit,... damn. Any other fixes appreciated. Clean install would take me about 2 weeks to get all my appz reinstalled and fix disks have been a bad experience. Any other help most welcome. Do you have any firewall like the SP2 firewall in place? Where did you get those instructions?
