Hi jhnjns32, welcome to 7F! Have you recently had any episodes with any Viruses? Have you looked in Services to see if Base Filtering Engine (BFE) populates the Services List? Use this tutorial to go to Services - Start or Disable You should find the Base Filtering Engine near the top of the list. follow the instructions to start the Service. Black Viper's advice is to have the setting at Automatic (Started) Home Premium. If you look under the dependencies tab for "IPsec Policy Agent" and "IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keyring Modules" you will find BFE listed as dependent, and that is why you received the error message. It is either Stopped or missing entirely. If BFE is not listed in Services try a Restore point, SFC /scannow, or you may need to do a Repair Install. If you have had a virus a restore point may not work, and your best bet would be a Clean Install Windows 7. Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) We received this message from IPSec: EZD0902I Peer certificate failed validation - System SSL CMS http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21570755 error : 03353022 Certificate is expired. All IPSec TCPIP stack tunnels began to fail with message EZD1075I. We are not using NSSD. Symptom Our current x.509 certificates were scheduled to expire soon so RACF support renamed the 'old' certificate on the IKED keyring and added the new certificate to the keyring. The 'new' certificate was marked as error 1075 the default. When the old certificate eventually expired, the following message was issued - "EZD0902I Peer certificate failed validation - System SSL CMS error : 03353022 Certificate is expired". In addition, all the TCPIP stack IPSec tunnels began to fail with message EZD1075I Received ISAKMP error notification message : Invalid certificate Tunnel refreshes were not returning the new error 1075 ipsec and valid certificate. We had to remove the 'old' personal site certificate from the keyring and recycle IKED. Diagnosing the problem If NSSD had been running on the systems with the expired certificate, you would not have lost your IPSec connections when the old certificate expired. The Network Security Services server daemon (NSSD) provides certificate and network management services for IPSec, in addition to other services for XML appliances. . NSS allows for centralized configuration and administration of certificates. It provides a central, SAF-enabled repository for RSA certificates along with signature services within the most trusted zones. NSS digital signature services allows central administration of RACF certificates and private keys. Resolving the problem Configure the NSS Server: see "Preparing to provide network security services" in Chapter 20 "Network Security Services" in the IP Configuration Guide. Start the NSS Server: see "Starting the NSS server" in the IP Configuration Guide.
