TNSPING for the standby database server gives the positive result Above only means you can get to listener, but in this case you are not even getting to the listener. listener records into listener.log every connection request along with the appropriate status code STATUS=0 means success. 9,010 HelloI am having problems with my standby and its driving me up the wall. I created the standby on Saturday, ready to go http://dbaforums.org/oracle/index.php?showtopic=8693 Live today. I created it from a cold backup. This was working fine, switched a few logfiles on the primary and these were applied on the standby. I had a hot backup run on the primary at 5.30 pm on the same day. Come in this morninga and the logs are not being applied to the standby. I get the following when I look at the trace filekcrrfail: dest:2 err:12154 force:0ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service error 12154 name*** 2007-10-22 13:02:19.026Error 12154 connecting to destination LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 standby host 'PRD01STBY'Error 12154 attaching to destination LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 standby host 'PRD01STBY'Heartbeat failed to connect to standby 'MCSPRD01STBY'. Error is 12154.This is very baffling as nothing has changed, my tns is fine and so is the listener. I am running Oracle 9i on AIX 5. Could someone please help as its a live environmentThanks burleson View Member Profile Oct 22 2007, 08:00 AM Post #2 Advanced Member error 12154 received Group: Members Posts: 13,227 Joined: 26-January 04 Member No.: 13 Hi,The ORA-12154 could be due to several things:http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_12154_tns_...ervice_name.htmThe ORA-21254 is a very common error, always related to your local copy of the tnsnames.ora file, your listener configuration and your database name aliases.Make sure that your listener is listening for the same service name that you are using. Your service name might have an alias, so check for global (world) entries and local entries. Check $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora. Check your global_name setting with this SQL: select * from global_name;The query value should match your init.ora parms for db_name and db_domain, You can change the global_name with an alter database commend, as follows: alter database rename global_name to xxx; -------------------- Hope this helps. . .
