Chasing a problem with BITS (XP Home), thru Microsoft, to an error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization access is denied no avail. Stumbled onto this webpage, gave BITS it's own process. Able to start the service and perform updates. I can't thank you enough. This has been driving me crazy and so has Microsoft! Had a clever guy helping and when I found this he said "lets give it a try, can't do any harm". I am so pleased he did because this has fixed it. Thanks a lot to the original poster, I am very grateful. Reply AaronAugust 10, 2014 at 7:46 pmPermalink You ROCK! The Network service the the RPC depends upon controls this service(Windows update) too. The network service password and account was missing from the windows update service.
