Cause There are several conditions that cause this error:- There is an issue with the CD-ROM; it may be damaged, scratched or dirty.- There may be an issue with the configuration of the CD-ROM drive.- There is a known problem with Windows Installer reading compressed files from CD that occurs on some CD-ROM drives. Something went awry so that I was unable to launch it. I tried reinstalling it and received a message from Microsoft Software Installer (MSI) that made not much sense to me. It complained that the product source was not available. A web http://www.yqcomputer.com/994_1131_1.htm page with similar words mentioned problems with Kerberos authentication and Group Policy as a possible cause. If http://www.ikangyun.net/Roxio_Unspecified_Error_0x.html the product source is the same as the installation CD then I do not understand what the problem could be because I launched the installation from the CD using both SETUP.EXE and the MSI file. The message appeared with both methods AND in Control Panel / Add Remove Software. I cannot repair the software. I cannot remove the software. I cannot install the software. I am now installing error 1305 a fresh copy of Windows 2003 Server so that whatever trash in the Registry is causing this dilemma will be forced to a consistent state. I've tried Roxio product support who claim that all known bugs (or "issues") have been resolved in the update that can be downloaded from their web site.
