Error 1311 Sku111.cab
HardwickJanuary 30, 200574 0 0 0 Yesterday I finally diagnosed a problem that a friend’s laptop has had for a while: whenever she tried to install Office 2003 Service Pack 1, it would throw up an error about not finding a file called SKU111.CAB. A week ago I’d confidently tried to fix this by downloading the “fullfile” version of Office 2003 SP1 onto the laptop. The fullfile version contains everything needed for an update, as compared to the much smaller normal version which requires you to find your original installation CDROM (but is faster to download from Office Update). So I was pretty annoyed when it threw up exactly the same error: couldn’t find SKU111.CAB. My next step was to try repairing the original installation first, from Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. This asked for the original installation CDROM, span it up and down a few times… and then complained about not being able to find SKU111.CAB. Ok, this was getting personal. Which brings us to this weekend, and a lot of Google hits for other people with the same problem. Thankfully, Eric Longman’s post “Can’t find SKU111.CAB” pointed to the solution: You've got the wrong install CD. Voila! Turns out that my friend actually had three different installation CDs for Office 2003 (it’s a long story…). One session of CD-swapping later and the laptop was happily installing SP1. Thanks Eric! Error 1311 when installing Office 2007 Started by Kat232 , Feb 26 2007 12:17 error 1311 AM Please log in to reply #1 Kat232 Posted 26 February 2007 - 12:17 AM Kat232 Member Member 17 posts I have Office 2003 Pro and am trying to upgrade to 2007, though it's the Home and Student edition. When I try installing the upgrade from cd, it comes up with error 1311: Can't find source file E:\sku111.cab. What should I do? 0 Advertisements #2 Jrenter2 Posted 01 March 2007 - 01:27 PM Jrenter2 Member Member 435 posts error 1311 sku111.cab Hi Kat232,Here is something for you to try. The files should be on the Microsoft Office Professional 2003 disk. But in order for the installer to find the files you need to allow the system to show hidden files, and also not hide extensions. here is how: 1.Click Start, and then click My Computer. 2. Click Folder Options on the Tools menu. 3. Click the View tab. 4. Click Show hidden files and folders under Hidden files and folders. 5. Clear the Hide file extensions for known file types check box. Next run your Office program that gives you problems and then when you browse to show it the files, just select your cdrom/dvdrom drive where your disk is. When the install is complete, go back and hide your files/folders again.Hope this helps. Found what I needed to anyway. Unfortunatley, allowing the system to see every single possible file did no good. Office Home and Student 2007 still says the same error - Source file not found: E:\sku111.cab. Though why would it be looking for that file name in the E:\ drive, which is my dvd drive, when it's listed on Microsoft's webiste as the Off
Written on January 20th 2010 at 12:33. Last modified: January 20, 2011 Looking for SKU001.CAB? When doing a number of things with Microsoft Office such as reinstalling it, repairing it, installing SP3, etc the error SKU001.CAB is missing may appear looking for a CD or other installation files. It seems that even if you have the Microsoft Office files on your hard drive or if you insert your original CD that it still can't find this cab file. This error may also occur when simply launching any of the applications in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel or Powerpoint particularaly after an crash or a previous update was applied which is very annoying indeed. Common Symptoms When re-installing, repairing, upgrading or just launching an application from the Microsoft Office suite the error "SKU001.CAB is missing" appears. Explanation This error is occurring because a registry entry is incorrectly set and setup is looking in the wrong place. Solution - Change CDCACHE Registry Entry If you still have the error message on your screen then close down all open windows including the error so that you have no programs running. Click Start > Run Type regedit and hit ENTER or click OK You should see the navigation tree in the left pane. Navigate to the following keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Microsoft Office 11.0 Delivery Inside the Delivery Key there should be one more key which is a long string of numbers for example: 90103207-6000-11A1-9CEE-1160028683D9 Click on the key and then you should see some entries in the right hand pane. Double click on the entry CDCache Change the value to 0 Important Note Depending on your version of Microsoft Office the registry path may be different. The above path and delivery key is only examples. Yours will look similar but not necessarily identical. The important entry to find is the CDCACHE entry. Click OK and then exit the Registry and retry the MS Office installation.
