2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager #Sysctr#SCVMM October 29, 2015 by James van den Berg Leave a comment Introduction This article describes the issues that are fixed in Update Rollup 8 (UR8) for Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager. There are two updates available for System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager: one for servers and one for the Administrator Console. This article also contains the installation instructions for Update Rollup 8 for System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager. Features that are added in this update rollup Support for SQL Server 2014 SP1 as VMM database With Update Rollup 8 for SC VMM 2012 R2 you can now have Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP1 as the VMM database. This support does not include deploying https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/scvmm/2010/08/09/solution-system-center-virtual-machine-manager-guest-services-installation-fails-with-error-13206/ service templates by using the SQL profile type as SQL Server 2014 SP1. For the latest information about SQL Server requirements for System Center 2012 R2, see the reference here. Support for VMWare vCenter 6.0 management scenarios With Update Rollup 7, we announced support for management scenarios for vCenter 5.5. Building on our roadmap for vCenter and VMM integration and supportability, we are now excited to announce support for VMWare vCenter 6.0 in Update Rollup 8. For a complete list https://mountainss.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/update-rollup-8-for-system-center-2012-r2-virtual-machine-manager-sysctr-scvmm/ of supported scenarios, click here. Ability to set quotas for external IP addresses With Update Rollup 7, we announced support for multiple external IP addresses per virtual network, but the story was incomplete, as there was no option to set quotas on the number of NAT connections. With UR8, we are glad to announce end-to-end support for this functionality, as you can now set quotas on the number of external IP addresses allowed per user role. You can also manage this by using Windows Azure Pack (WAP). Issues that are fixed in this update rollup Issue 1 Creation of Generation 2 VMs fails with the following error:
Error (13206) Virtual Machine Manager cannot locate the boot or system volume on virtual machineServer 2012 R2 Datacenter, then applied latest updates, etc. Next, I shut down, then cloned that master image. So far, so good. Then, I went to create http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Cannot_create_VM_from_Gen2_template/?TopicId=53950&Posts=1 a VM template from an existing VM, using the cloned vm as the source. That appeared to work and the VM was stored in the library. Now, when I go to create a VM from that http://boardreader.com/fp/TechNet_forums_561478/Virtual_Machine_Manager_General_1018295.html template, I get an error (23352) on step 1.4 - Change properties of virtual machine. The error says "VMM cannot find the device or this device is not valid for a boot device." Recommended Action "Make error 13206 sure you specify a valid device as a boot device." It's not really clear how to fix this. The source VM works fine and boots. The template was created from that... also, the link on "how to set the boot order for a generation 2 virtual machine" doesn't work and goes to the main SC page. How can I resolve this so I can create gen2 VM's from a template? The VMM database is also hosted from a two nodes HA SQL cluster. The database connection is configured to connect to a SQL Availability group listener name via default port 1433 . Now, we need to migrate the VMM database to a new SQL cluster. I am thinking to stop the VMM ...
