by screensaverboy Error 1327 Installing/Updating Reader dapphp Oct 12, 2010 4:50 PM When attempting to update Adobe Reader it comes up with an error "Error 1327.Invalid Drive H:\". I run into the same thing attempting to install https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1327-invalid-drive-drive.html the latest version using the full installer.H: is mapped to a user folder on the network. The My Documents folder is pointed to "H:\My Documents" and is ONLINE. The Adobe help page says the error occurs if the drive is unavailable but it is not, I have full access. It mentions setting permissions on the folder for "Everyone" but this is the most insecure thing I have ever heard. These are user's directories on https://forums.adobe.com/thread/737476 a Windows server, we cannot just set permissions to Everyone. Please advise.Thanks. Re: Error 1327 Installing/Updating Reader dapphp Oct 13, 2010 9:16 AM (in response to shashi.kant) Hello,The drive is valid and being used so we cannot just change the shell folders in the registry, the user's documents folders are stored on a server and that is where the H: drive points to. It is valid and online so I do not understand the error or why the installer even needs to use the H: drive. Thanks Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Error 1327 Installing/Updating Reader pwillener Oct 13, 2010 8:09 PM (in response to dapphp) I also do not understand why the installer needs to access your H: drive; I even less understand why it throws an error when the drive is in fact available (and has the necessary permissions). But let's try to narrow it down; one question: is that a local or networked drive? account only takes a few minutes. Join Now We map several drives via login scripts and I have noticed this error in the past while installing Acrobat on Win 7, but I just set up a new Win 7 computer with Reader and a Reader 10.x update choked with this same error. There are several workarounds but none permanent that I can find. I don't mind the occasional workaround on an Acrobat installation but if READER updates are going to start choking it is totally unacceptable. Any advice? Thank you in advance. You can try changing the access permissions on the network folder to “write” for everyone to the shared folder or drive. There is another discussion on this here that mentions some registry key checks as well. 0 Jalapeno OP TechPro57 Apr 10, 2012 at 8:15 UTC TheJazBand wrote: I've discovered problems writing to and copying from network drives when using an admin account on windows 7. Adobe is aware and suggests using the SUBST command to temporarily re-assign the drive (L in my case). The workaround I used for Acrobat was changing a registry setting ("Explorer Shell" if memory serves). In that case it was a mapped H drive that was the offender. 0 Jalapeno OP TechPro57 Apr 10, 2012 at 8:24 UTC Lori @ AcrobatUsers.com wrote: This error can occur when a drive is mapped for the user but the installer is running in a system context.
