Contributor 5 Answers Re: My OKI B4600 is displaying error 134 It means the printhead [laser] is "missing" - but usually it's just the data cable at the end of the printhead has popped out. Very common - we have hundreds of Okis at our corp and http://www.fixya.com/support/t8508765-oki_b4600_displaying I've fixed this many times. Turn the power off, pull either the left or right plastic clip AWAY from the printhead, and carefully insert the data cable back into the connector on the printhead. Put one end of the printhead nearest the data cable back into its plastic clip, and make sure the spring is seated on its little post on the bar, and then click the rest of the printhead into the clip on the end opposite of the data cable, again making sure the spring is seated on its post. Turn the printer on - your error should now be gone. You will need to either get a technician in to fix it, or get creative like I did and order the part# 43589701 (Gear Coupling A Kit) and then you will have to file out the frame so you can pull the gear assembly out without having to pull the whole printer apart (which is apparently what the techs have to do) Be very careful not to damage any wires while filing the frame hole bigger. Then it is pretty simple to get the gear assembly out and the new one in. This probably cost me like $30 dollars for 2 of these parts and guess what, it broke a second time on me 6 months later (little trick to not breaking these parts is to not igno
status monitor may read "Fatal Error". This simply means a problem has occurred requiring action to clear. A "Fatal Error" does not mean your printer will "die". Fatal Error explanations are not usually found in the User's Guide or Handy Reference Guide. RECOMMENDED NEXT STEP: First, try turning off your printer then turning it back on. If this does not clear the message or remedy the problem, check to see if your printer is on a power strip (or not plugged directly into the wall). For testing purposes, be sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall. Often, the issue is power-related. Second, if the issue persists after this, write down the message (including the 3-digit error code number) and email us at "support@okidata.com" or call Oki Data Customer Support (1-800-654-3282) for assistance. NOTE: If you see a series of letters and numbers(scrolling across the display) after the 3-digit error code, be sure to write these down also and report them when call or emailing Customer Support.
