A https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-1402-or-1406-During-Installation.html Quick Overview When installing or un-installing Microsoft Windows component technologies on Windows Vista/Seven/Win2K8-Server (or newer) you may encounter a message box similar to "Error 1402. It is generally a simple matter to fix, once you know how. We recommended that you back-up your computer or at least the registry before taking this action. Microsoft's built-in backup program allows for the "system state" to be selectively backed up. Or, you can ZIP up the "windows

When deploying the suite using the supplied sms scripts, 3DStudio Max would error out in Altiris. Everything else runs fine. I have modified the rights to the registry, changed the credentials for deployment, always gets this error. THe only time the product installs successfully is when someone is logged in to the machine. Product: Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 32-bit -- Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Autodesk\3dsMax\15.0\\CadManagerControl\SubscriptionCenter. System error 87. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment Community Chosen Answer 3 Only installed on Macs, but it sounds like the installer needs the presence of the HKCU or local user app directories to install. Before an end-user with restricted privileges can use third-party plug-ins for Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 / Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2013, an administrator, with full privileges, must install and start 3ds Max 2 2013 / 3ds Max Design 2013 one time in order to generate the necessary folders for these third-party plug-ins.
