And I want to install it on my new Acer Win 7 64-bit Laptop. But, I'm getting a error 1406 about 3\4 of
Error 1406 Could Not Write Value To Key
the way through the install when it tried to write to the registry keys (said I don't have privilege to write to registy, I have admin rights on all user accounts (and file system error?)). And Locks appear on the User's that were used for the failed install. I tried 2 different user accounts and it happened on both after the failed install I have the Office 2010 starter install and I can't uninstall it. I tried add remove programs, error 1402 office 2010 manually uninstall the registry with Regedit (found in the Microsoft forums) and the Microsoft FixIt Office 2010 uninstaller. It is still there after a restart. And My Computer still had the Microsoft Office 2010 Cilck-to-Run (Q) (Protected). It gets even better, I restored to the day before I tried to uninstall Office 2010 Starter and now that has an activation error. So, I can't use the Starter version either. I am now using the OpenOffice.org software. How do I uninstall the Office 2010 Starter? Do I need a Replacement Activation Key for the 2007, that has been used before and it's no longer in use on the old dead laptop? Or is it the Office 2010 Starter and (Q) (Protected) that is blocking me from writting to the registry? I recently had cause to uninstall my copy http://www.office-forums.com/threads/error-1406-installing-office-enterprise-2007.2321149/ of Office 2007 (Vista Home Premium) On reinstalling I got an 'error 1406 -setup cannot write the value to the registry key'..... The were 4 keys SketchObj.SketchInk, SketchObj.SketchInk.1, HWXInk.E-Ink and HWXInk.E-Ink.1 I error 1402 continued the install by ignoring these errors and everything seems to be working OK. Those of you who Know me, know I wouldn't leave this issue alone, so having read loads of reasons for this type of error (1406) on the web (but none specifically for the ones I have !) I have tried every type of option to remedy this problem. I've run it error 1402 office as Administrator, I've stopped my 3rd party Antivirus and Firewall, and I've even uninstalled my 3rd party Antivirus and Firewall, all with no success ... I still get the same bloody errors !!!!!!! What really bugs me is that I reinstalled my copy of Office 2007 once before when I had to rebuild my laptop from scratch (after my experiences with Ubuntu and Raid0 configurations !!) As I said at the start, there doesn't appear to be any prob;ems with my Office Apps ... Guess all I want to really know ... Is what do these registry keys do, and should I be bothered that they weren't updated .. Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top Scott Posts: 5618 This post has been reported. StevePaul, If you have to uninstall again, don't use Add/Remove, use Revo and increase your chances of an error free reinstallation. (Expect 100's of registry entries to be deleted with Revo, make sure you have a good backup) Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top StevePaul Posts: 99 This post has been reported. Hi Scott, Way ahead of you here, I've been using Revo
11, 2008. Deano Supremo Guest I'm trying to install Office 2007 Enterprise and I keep getting 1406 errors when trying to install. I can click on "Ignore" and the installation will still go through to the end but I believe it's blocking the installation of Office update KB946691. Is there any way I can resolve this? I'm running XP SP3 and I'm on an Administrator account. This is a fresh Windows installation too.
