We have recently relocated our authentication services to a Windows server (Active Directory). We would very much like to maintain our users through Workgroup Manager, but find this error when attempting to create new users or groups. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kerberos authentification delegation for your server into AD machine control. You need to Configure Kerberos into Open Directory control. This way, Active directory will thrust Open directory.Be sure to authentificate in worgroup manager with an Domain Admin user or an suffisant credentials to modifying user and group policies. There should be it. So far I've got the clients logging on ok,group folders mount nicely and I can see AD users and groups from workgroup manager. But when I try to add a home directory for an AD user i get error 14140 mac - 'Got unexpected error Error of type -14140 on line 1127 of PMMUGMainView.mm' I get the same if I try to create a new active directory user so it looks like workgroup manager is having problems writing to the active directory. Has anyone seen and resolved this? #1 babaton, May 3, 2005 Go3iverson uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Mar 8, 2003 Messages: 1,069 Likes Received: 0 WGM's connection to AD is stricly read only. Even if your authenticated to AD, with an account that has R/W access, you will not be able to update your AD from WGM, unless you extend the schema of the AD to include the OS X specifc attributes. I highly do not suggest modifying your schema. You have the OS X Server so you won't have to! Why do you need to add the home directory in WGM for your AD? Just go into the properties of the user account in the AD and set the home folder share directly in there. Just specify it as you would any other share. #2 Go3iverson, May 3, 2005 babaton uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Feb 11, 2005 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 thanks, that works nicely but with one problem. It doesn't move the "home" to the network, just mounts the empty directory.Which is actually fine but at the same time AD users

Posted: 4/17/15 at 2:38 PM by mattware Hi all, I'm currently looking for a solution to back up user data on our 50 or so macs. They currently do not back up that data at all. The users know to use network drives but we'd like to implement something because they do occasionally lose work. I'm only looking to back up user data, no applications or system files. What I need is something on prem, not cloud based. LDAP integration is also necessary. The management is not wild about anything that puts company data in the hands of another company. So far I've got a Crashplan PROe server up and running, and I'm pretty happy with that so far. Reasonable user cost ($5/month/user) for on prem, and minimal server requirements (2 cores, 4gb memory) for under 100 users. And it handles interruptions no problem, as well as runs well in the background. I've looked at Syncrify (Terrible client, no LDAP), owncloud (Stupidly overpriced), and experimented with Time Machine enough to know it won't work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Edit: Forgot to add, the solution must run on Windows as well, we need it to be able to be backed up by our Avamar/Data Domain backup appliance, and those do not support Mac. 7 Posted: 4/17/15 at 2:56 PM by corbinmharris CrashPlan ProE from Code42 We looked at on-premise and hybrid options and went with their cloud hosting. They do AD/LDAP integration and there is an admin guide at this link http://resources.jamfsoftware.com/documents/white-papers/Administering-CrashPlan-PROe-with-the-Casper-Suite.pdf Corbin Posted: 4/17/15 at 4:08 PM by RobertHammen End user, not server data?
