The next step is to delete the restore file. To do this hold the shift key and click on the restore button in itunes( while the ipod is connected) a window should open with the restore file. Force reset the device, (hold menu+select) as soon as you see the apple icon force disk mode(hold play/pause and select). Once in disk mode wait thil the X turns into a check mark. Then plug it into the computer. Restore.
