Went through the process and, when it rebooted, was stuck on the Apple logo. Went through the recovery process as shown

on the help pages but now it comes up with "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1439)". Followed every option on the help pages to try and restore it but just goes back to the same error message. Windows does not recognise it properly (seems to think it is a disk drive, not a hard drive), on both a PC running Vista and a laptop running Windows 7. Help! I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.
