Error 15 File Not Found Fedora 17 Live Usb
"error 15: file not found" live-usb asked 2012-07-11 12:01:05 +0000 Hutt 11 ●1 ●1 ●2 hello there, I am desperately trying to boot fedora 17 from a usb stick created from the gnome-live-cd. when I try to boot from the stick, I get "error 15 - file not found" in the boot loader. I tried to create the live-usb with two different tools (linuxliveusb + liveusb creator) and I get the same error with both tools.I am creating the bootable stick from windows. The machine I am trying to get fedora installed is a netbook with an Intel Atom N2800 and 4GB RAM. burning a cd is unfortunately not an option because the lenovo has no optical drive and I do not have an external optical drive. also, I do not have any linux machine at my hands. any suggestions on how to get it to work? edit retag flag offensive close merge delete Commentstry unetbootin and if that does not work then download the new isoAkshay( 2012-07-11 20:16:25 +0000 )edit 8 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 1 answered 2012-10-13 08:05:02 +0000 din 27 ●2 Here is the solved Thread http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=283055 edit flag offensive delete link more 1 answered 2012-10-12 10:34:42 +0000 winzter143 11 ●1 I encounter this problem just because I install the ISO to the partition as is /dev/sdb1 and not on the device /dev/sdb. I also used the fedora liveusb creator tool. My boot order was wrong in my bios. I had two options one being: USB KEY: {name of your usb drive} so for me: USB KEY: PATRIOT MEMORY and the other option was: UEFI: PATRIO
Live USB live-usb installation asked 2014-12-13 18:32:25 +0000 deadrat 2341 ●26 ●70 ●94 http://www.deadrat.in/ updated 2015-01-18 07:58:51 +0000 Hi, I downloaded the fedora 21 iso image from : http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/21/Workstation/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Live-Workstation-x86_64-21-5.iso I used liveusb-creator (in Win 10) to create live USB. (Instructions can be found here: http://libre.bigbangnerd.com/2015/01/creating-live-usb-media-of-gnulinux-os.html ) I am unable to boot now. I get an error message vesamenu.c32: not a COM32R image boot: I am not sure what to do. Thanks. edit retag flag offensive close merge delete Comments1This just happened to me today as i was trying to boot an install media on USB. The solution as suggested below was I copied the vesamenu.c32 from an existing Fedora OS https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/8129/fedora-17-live-usb-boot-error-error-15-file-not-found/ install (Fedora19) in /usr/share/syslinux and replaced the one on the USB drive inside the syslinux folder. This solved my problem.koladapo( 2015-02-24 20:05:05 +0000 )editStill happens in v22, and copying the file seems to do nothing in this case. Typing linux0 allowed the live USB to boot ok, as far as i can see. The USB boot creator for Windows was used to make the boot USB, and it looks rather old (it has https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/59553/unable-to-boot-fedora-21-live-usb/ the option to download fedora, but the newest version to choose was v18, i just told the creator to use an already downloaded image of v22).fsr( 2015-06-10 15:51:43 +0000 )editSo if you are not able to boot using Live USB because of the above issue, hit tab.Itwill give available options @fsr , I agree. The developers haven't updated the liveusb-creator in a while. not that it needs a major update, but they could add the options to download the latest fedora releases.deadrat( 2015-06-13 13:07:19 +0000 )editI have the same problem now and it appears to have destroyed my USB drive to as I cannnot mount it in anyway !Orriginal( 2015-09-15 15:36:38 +0000 )editIt still happens with Fedora 24 installators. I do not get which Tab menu you are talking about (nothing appears for me). The vesamenu.c32 was fine in Fedora17 /lib/syslinux but not in is wrong in Fedora 24 /usr/share/syslinux. So, you cannot fix installer now by manual copy. I do not understand which Tab menu you are talking about (nothing appears to me besides more errors, yet memtest command is runnable). I also do not understand why you attribute the wrong file to the LIveUSB creator rather than .iso image that contains it.valtih1978( 2016-06-30 07:56:15 +0000 )edit 3 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 7

"Error 15: File Not Found" I would just like to say thank you first of all for viewing this. I am quite confused about installing linux. Never have used it before, I am curious and would like to install it. I have spent hours attempting to find a linux that works for me. The result is an error 15 file not found, it's the same problem with every linux I go to install and make a Live Usb for. I do not have a clue where to even google the specific search. I know I have to have 15 posts to post links, but its a lot better for me to show pictures of what I am talking about. First, let me start off with my system specs of my self-built desktop computer. windows 7 64bit ASUS P9X79 PRO Intel X79 Pro Motherboard i-7 3930k 3.2GHz Nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti 1gb Ok, I followed the directions of making a live usb (Fedora-17-x86_64-Live-Desktop) I used the Fedora Live Usb Creator, unetbootin, and also Linux Live Usb Creator with the same error 15: file not found. Once the live usb has been created, I restart my computer.
