Jun 27, 2006 01:12 PM|VirtueTech|LINK Hello everyone, I followed ScottGu's blog on using "Web Deployment Projects" to deploy my web application from this URL: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/11/06/429723.aspx I followed the instructions and everything worked fine. - The Web application builds - The web deployment project precompiled the web application - The Web Setup project created the MSI file for installation on the server Now though I cannot make any changes to my Web Application because I keep getting the following error when I hit "Build Website": "This application is already precompiled" And the most obvious was making sure in the "web Deployment project" that I checked the box to allow the web site to be upgradeable after precompiling, but it doesn't make a difference. Can someone please help me so that I can update my site? Thanks. -- Jim - Jim Reply blomm None 0 Points 1 Post Re: This application is already precompiled - Help? Look in your project in visual studio and see if there is a ' PrecompiledApp.config ' file. Delete this file and you should be able to make changes and recompile your application. - Joh
Team Foundation Server > Team Foundation Server - Build and release management Question 0 Sign in to vote I am getting the error "This application is already precompiled" on the compile step of my project. I have not made any changes to the compile process. I've successfully built many projects the same way (as far as I know). I don't know what's causing this error. Thoughts appreciated.Build Log output: Target http://localhost/ATRRSChkbx/: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_compiler.exe -v /ATRRSChkbx -p ..\ATRRSChkbx\ -u -f -d D:\Build\dev23p7\ATRRSChkbx\ATRRSChkbx-BT01\Binaries\.Net\Debug\_PublishedWebsites\ATRRSChkbx\ http://forums.asp.net/t/1003319.aspx?This+application+is+already+precompiled+Help+ ASPNETCOMPILER : error ASPRUNTIME: This application is already precompiled. My developers didn't tell me this was a different type of application. Specifically https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/87bfb287-46a6-400d-97fc-a3042fdb6290/error-this-application-is-already-precompiled?forum=tfsbuild it is a COTS product SDK that has some development and distribution limitations built in. These included the PrecompiledApp.config file being in the web application source code. It causes the error. click past this window, and i try to build the application, I https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/how-do-i-compile-the-precompiled/31937 get an error that says "This application is already precompiled". What can I do? NightStalker 2013-06-21 04:46:31 UTC #2 Hey What exactly are you trying to do? Just debug the application? You can host it in IIS on your machine and attach your debugger to that process to debug it. But you not going to be able error 16 to fix any problems. Your best bet is to get the full source code or you will have to try and reverse engineer the dll. To do that, you can try any of these two: http://www.red-gate.com/products/dotnet-development/reflector/http://www.telerik.com/products/decompiler.aspx I have only used .net reflector in the past when it was still free. So I am not sure how well error 16 this the other works, but Telerik usually build quality tools, so I am sure it will be just as good. Good luck cpradio 2013-06-21 11:16:17 UTC #3 There is also [ilspy and [url=http://www.jetbrains.com/decompiler/]JetBrains dotPeek](http://ilspy.net), both of which I use extensively at work.
