have to wait for someone to tell them what it means. To make everyone's life easier (Mods, Members, and n00bs), I am going to post a listing of all of the error codes

with some explaination of what they mean and how to fix them. I hope this thread will help everyone with there Xbox error problems. Also, I dont want to take credit for compiling the information (but I will take credit posting it!). I have to credit OCnewB and Superfro of the Xbox-Scene forums. He is the one who orignally compiled all the information, I just put it here xbox error code 16 fix on our forum, but I did clean it up a little, added some imput, and kept only the most recent updated fixes(the original had a lot of fixes that were out of date). So with all that being said, Behold: [bold]XBOX ERROR CODES EXPLAINED[/bold] For those of you that don't know or are not sure if or when you have seen an error, you will see an error during the normal boot up sequence. Instead of your booting the M$ dashboard or Hacked Dashboard (Evox, UnleashX, Avalaunch, etc.), there will be an message on the screen that says, "Your Xbox Requires Service" and you will see a number on the upper left hand corner of the screen <- this is your error code number. The error codes are listed below Beware, you wont see the bootldr error's because (thanks to: Lordvader129) : "when you see this" is not entirely accurate, you never see the bootloader errors, as they are one that cause the reboot/FRAGs [bold]2 - bootldr - Eeprom check failed[/bold] When you see this error most of the times you have flashed something wrong. Or you dropped solder on your eeprom chips. [bold]4 - bootldr - Ram check failed[/bold] Your Xbox

I have 3 Original Xbox's. Now everything that I've read basically says that error code 16 is given when someone fails at upgrading the hard drive or the Xbox can't find the MS dash files to set the clock. I've been reading tutorials for hours and pretty much everything I've read says that you can either Hotswap and use Xplorer360(Tried this) or you can use an AIO installer disk (My xbox isn't modded, so this isn't possible).I was hoping that assuming anyone still frequents the original Xbox forums someone could point me in the right direction to getting this error fixed. Like I said I'm relatively new to modding/fixing the original xbox so I'm kind of lost. I have a soft modded xbox and a chipped xbox so I'm hoping I can use one of those to restore the retail box. Things I've Tried-Getting error code 12 and Hot-swapping, Xbox HDM says the drive is still locked and won't work and Windows XP detects the drive however Xplorer360 won't.-Getting error code 12 and hot-swapping the retail drive over to the chipped xbox in hopes of restoring. -swapping the drive from the chipped xbox into the retail box in hopes I could restore the clock.-Booting games/dvd's on the retail box in hopes it would boot to no avail.-Hooking the retail drive up to the chipped xbox as a slave drive and trying to copy the C:// partiti

Heres what i do: 1.)Unplug xbox DVD drive to ensure it boots to an error 12, which i believe leaves the HDD unlocked. I do not quickly unplug the HDD i let it boot up like normal and after a little bit i unplug the HDD, should I unplug the HDD after a error 16 xbox certain point? 2.)Turn on the computer and immediatley hit pause/break before it searches for any drives. 3.)Plug IDE cable from my computer into the xbox HDD, then hit space. 4.)Let it boot into XboxHDM 1.9 and wait a minute 5.)I hit one, but here is where my troubles start, after i hit one to boot into VGA console it goes through a list of operations its performing and after it recognizes my drive it gives me a BUNCH of errors: drive ready seek complete error this is the most prominent one but after that one there is another error that says somthing about status. But it never says that the drive is locked. it also says it cannot communicate to sector 0,2,4,6. Im assuming that its not dead since those are sequential (for even numbers). 6.)Then after a few minutes it gets to the bottom of its list of thins to do and says initializing USB controller assigning it to port 1, but then it freezes. Thats where i lave off, i have no idea what im doing wrong.
