I have several Windows user accounts on my home error 1606 PC (Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit). I moved the "My Documents" and "Desktop" folders ("personal folders") to an alternate location for better backup managability. I used the Windows "Move Location" functionality to do so.When Adobe Reader tries to run an update, it fails and tells me to run Adobe Repair. So I went to the Windows Control Panel, right-clicked on Adobe Reader and chose "Change". I get the following errors:I tried error 1606 could the following three seperate solutions (none worked): 1. Reinstalling Adobe 2. I completely deleted and recreated the "problemed" Windows account 3. Per an Adobe KB article, I created a brand new Windows user account with administrative rights and reinstalled Adobe Reader under that loginIs there no way to move my personal folders without triggering this bug? As you can see, I have spent a lot of time working on this. Can you hear the frustration? Thanks so much!!!Eliezer I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 6355Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 4 replies 1. Re: "Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0\" Eliezerb Apr 22, 2010 1:48 PM (in response to Eliezerb) I should mention that I tried the automatic fix at:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/and it got Adobe working - but it also moved my "personal folders" back to their default locations - not where I wanted them... So that solution won't work...Eliezer Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. But I would try the followinguninstall Adobe Reader (from Add/Remove Programs)move your personal folder
during installation Modified on: Fri, 15 May, 2015 at 11:29 AM PROBLEM The following error is encountered either during installation, in the Product's Installation Log file, or in Window's Event Logs: "Error 1606: Could not access network location %APPDATA%" Product Installation Logs can be located: VIPRE Home: %Temp%\VIPREInstall.log (or VIPREPremiumInstall.log) VIPRE Business: C:\ProgramData\VIPRE Business Agent\logs\Agent-MSI.csv (Other OS/Version Locations) ENVIRONMENT VIPRE Business VIPRE Business Premium All Supported Environments SOLUTION This Error indicates trouble with the Environmental Variable references inside the Registry. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article will cover the fix for this issue and the installation should proceed without trouble afterwards:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549Note: If this doesn't correct the issue the first time, save the fix it file to disk and right click and run it as an administrator. CAUSE This happens when a computer is part of a network and the incorrect network path for the %APPDATA% is in the registry, thus VIPRE will not be able to find the network location.
