Friday, September 29, 2006 9:11 PM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote I had VS 2003 Pro installed then added VS 2005 Std after the Launch conference. I do have a simple home network setup but the programs 03 & 05 are on my single machine. What do you think??? Saturday, September 30, 2006 12:04 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote did you install it over the network by any chance? could be one reason. Have you tried to insert the VS CD before running SP1 setup? If you installed it over the network then I am guessing that it is looking to that location point for some files....perhaps some registry setting needs to be fixed or something to point to the CD instead, and personally have no idea what keys to look for. I could be wrong however Saturday, September 30, 2006 12:07 AM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote No network involved, I installed right off the CD. I w

When installed locally, the installer creates Project and Data folders in their My Documents folder, but when I try to install to system with My Documents in a network location, the .msi fails with the cannot access network location error message. Looking at the installer log file, it appears that the failure occurs when the installer is creating the property that describes the Project and Data directories, not when trying to create and populate those directories. Does anybody have an idea about how I can either avoid, workaround, or recover from this error? Right now the installation just fails and rolls back for systems with My Documents on networks. Thanks. From MSI log: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2835.
