during installation Modified on: Fri, 15 May, 2015 at 11:29 AM PROBLEM The following error is encountered either during installation, in the Product's Installation Log file, or in Window's Event Logs: "Error 1606: Could not access network location %APPDATA%" Product Installation Logs can be located: VIPRE Home: %Temp%\VIPREInstall.log (or VIPREPremiumInstall.log) VIPRE Business: C:\ProgramData\VIPRE Business Agent\logs\Agent-MSI.csv (Other OS/Version Locations) ENVIRONMENT VIPRE Business VIPRE Business Premium All Supported Environments SOLUTION This Error indicates trouble with the Environmental Variable references inside the Registry. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article will cover the fix for this issue and the installation should proceed without trouble afterwards:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549Note: If this doesn't correct the issue the first time, save the fix it file to disk and right click and run it as an administrator. CAUSE This happens when a computer is part of a network and the incorrect network path for the %APPDATA% is in the registry, thus VIPRE will not be able to find the network location. Did you find it helpful? Yes No Can you please tell us how we can improve this article?
