Sounds like a Nortons file. Download the Symantec Nortons http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/cccommon-file-missing-error-1706.3572514/ un-installer and wipe Nortons off of your computer. And don't reinstall it !!! I get the can't connect to the Internet page & when I run the Diagnostic it reports the Error 12029 for the HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP ports. I have run through multiple lists of basic fixes for this & all is well. I can connect to the Internet in Safe Mode & with other computers so it is not an ISP problem. After looking through many posts & other websites & trying all of those suggestions, I have arrived at the bottom of the checklists which now say there is possibly a registry error or malware. So my guess is Norton either kicked & screamed on its way out the door & messed up something in the Registry, or it released a previously quarantined virus or something like that while Uninstalling? Either way, I can't figure it out & would love some help. Things I have done: I had Uninstalled Linksys from this computer before Uninstalling the Norton 360, but I can't remember positively if I used IE in between (I believe I did, but in case I didn't- I am letting you know in case that may be a factor). Uninstalled Norton 360. Wanted to go to the Norton web site to also download the Norton 360 program that they suggest you use after Uninstalling to make sure everything is gone, but found I couldn't get on line then. Checked IE settings & adjusted to where suggested to fix (for most other people posting at various websites,
